Still A True Friend After All These Years

Meeting you today

Made me realise,

That if a friendship is real,

The years apart from each other

Disappear in an instant,

As soon as friends are reunited.

I so enjoyed reminiscing

So many shared memories,

Happy times and a few sad ones too

But experiences shared with you.

We have so much in common still

Our thoughts are so similar,

Our opinions are mirrored

Our lives following parallel paths.

You touched me with your concern

I’m overwhelmed by your loyalty,

After all these years apart

I feel such a connection with you still.

You understand my thinking

You empathise with my situation,

A real sense of understanding

Borne out of your own experiences.

To have a friend I can trust

So completely, no matter what,

Is precious, rare and priceless

I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

You are a true friend

I know we will be friends forever,

I am always here for you too

We have an unbreakable bond.
