If only I could hibernate
And wake up in the spring.
To feel the suns first warming rays
And songbirds start to sing.
To know that winters really gone
Gone for quite a while
To know there will be no more snow
Our walkways to defile.
To know each morn the sun will rise
To greet a brand-new day.
And cast its light upon the land
To chase the night away.
To sit beneath a shady tree
My stories to compose
Or place my pad upon the grass
And have a quiet doze.
I've seen the seasons come and go
So many times it seems
And yet each season brings with it
Another batch of dreams.
For I am but a dreamer
I dream the whole day long
Of many places far away
Where I had once belonged.
For man can gather riches
Can travel many routes.
But one thing that will never change,
He can't shake off his roots.
