Because Back
Because you said you loved me
isn’t that reason enough?
There are more,
that is my key witness.
Do you think you can walk all over me
like some door to door salesman?
I’m not having that,
that is my chief defence.
What is it all for,
What goals did you achieve?
A five minute love affair,
that is exhibit ‘A’
I can’t just be swapped around
like some discarded eyebrow pencil.
He said he loved you,
that is exhibit ‘B’
I find you guilty of hate at first hindsight,
my case rests on your shoulders,
sentence will pass on,
I’ll do the time.
The motive is what I can’t understand,
the why, where and how?
How could you do it?
We were a team.
‘Why?’ I hear you ask.
‘reasons are clearly obvious,
I did it all, it’s true
Because’
‘Because?’
the logic is lost on me,
you blame me, ask why I’m leaving
as if you were the innocent party.
‘Why?’ I smile silently to myself
as a hundred answers come swiftly to my aid.
I think of you then,
‘Because back’.
