Where?
They called for peace,
peace in our time,
they tore down the Berlin wall.
There was singing and dancing all around,
goodbye Iron Curtain,
goodbye cold war,
hello peace.
Ah the sounds of peace,
the Tiananmen Square screams,
the thunder of Iraqi tanks,
the hissing of anti-Semite spray cans.
Goodbye fear,
goodbye hatred,
hello peace.
The reductions on arms,
Lets have a nuclear free zone, shake hands.
Mickey Mouse goes red
and moves in with McDonalds next door,
goodbye world recession,
goodbye Mr Soldier,
hello peace.
A hero towards Blacks
in white South Africa.
‘So that’s Nelson Mandela,
he looks nothing like Sydney Poitier’.
Goodbye Apartheid,
goodbye ANC,
hello peace.
Where?
I see terrorist bomb attacks,
riots on the streets
and Gulf wars.
Hello humanity,
hello reality,
goodbye peace.
