- Intro: The sequel to Forever Yours: Her job was get rid of him, but Julian had other ideas
For the last year, Cassandra had faithfully followed her goal. She was to rid the world of all vampires, good or bad. There was no need to explain why getting rid of the bad ones was necessary, but the good ones, they were actually in her opinion, the tricky ones. They lived their lives quietly and didn’t draw attention to themselves. They had many human friends and themselves had “human” jobs. They integrated well into society and even after knowing them for a time; you didn’t know they were vampires until they told you. Her order had given her direction to start with two vampires named Logan and Julian, they seemed to be head of a few clans in the area. Whether they were good or bad, Cassandra didn’t know at the moment, but would soon enough find out. She’d done her research on both of them and discovered that Julian had been working on a serum that allowed most of them to go out in daylight and not be harmed. If he could get the serum to work with their blood most would stay out for most part of the day, others, in which Julian couldn’t get the serum to work, had to live their lives as those knew vampires did. Sleeping in the day and “living” at night. Cassandra had been determined to get to Julian first. If she got to him then the others would be at a loss. He was the scientist of the group and without Julian’s works and studies; his clan would be just like some of the others, bloodthirsty night dwellers. Julian was close to another vampire named Logan, they’d been friends for the last 110 years. Logan’s mate Alyssa had become one of them ten years prior and if you asked her, she couldn’t have been happier. Cassandra just didn’t get it. What was so great about being immortal, living forever, and having the “strengths” that they did? Alyssa had “inherited” Logan’s gift of being able to sense other’s emotions. Cassandra knew when it got right down to it, she’d have to get rid of Alyssa too. It’s been said that female vampires, once you rid them of their mate, are ruthless. They’ll hunt you down til the end of time and Cassandra just didn’t want to be bothered. Maybe she should get rid of Alyssa first. She’d consider it.
Several nights later, a few of her friends invited her out to one of the biggest and hottest clubs in the area, Eternity. None of them had any idea it belonged to Logan, a vampire. All of Cassie’s friends knew what she was and didn’t have a problem with it. One of them even had a thing for vamps, but understood not all of them were ‘safe’ to hang out with. Cassie never once tried to discourage her, as it was her friend’s decision who or what she wanted to date. They arrived at Eternity’s at 10pm and were granted immediate entry. That wasn’t always easy to, do, but one of Cassie’s friends was ‘close’ to the doorman.
“Isn’t this great?” One of the friends asked raising her voice above the music.
“Not bad.” Cassie said looking around.
“Not bad?” Her friend shook her head. “Are you kidding? Look at this place, it’s off the chain Cassie! People stand in line for hours trying to get in and we walked right in.”
“Thanks to Jackie.” Cassie teased picking up on the looks exchanged between her and the doorman.
Jackie just smirked and looked to the bar. “I’m going to get a drink. Anyone want to join me?”
“I will.” Said another friend stepping next to Jackie. They both turned to look at Cassie.
“Coming?” Jackie asked.
“Nope.” The friend grabbed Cassie’s hand. “We’re dancing.”
“Missy.” Cassie tried to free her hand.
“Quit being a party pooper and come on!” Missy tugged her to the dance floor. Jackie and the other friend, Beth, went to the bar.
It was at the bar he spotted her instantly. Her scent overtook him and caused him to lose track of what he was doing. She was intoxicating and one way or the other he had to have her. He knew instantly she was human and didn’t care. He wanted her and that was that.
“Order in Julian.” A cocktail waitress said standing in front of him at the bar. He didn’t budge. “Julian.” She tapped his arm. He shook his head and looked to her as though she was a complete stranger. “Order in baby.”
“What?” He angled his head as though he didn’t understand.
“Order.” She pointed to the end of the bar. “In.”
“Oh. Sure.” He shook his head once again and walked off to make the drinks.
“You okay Gorgeous?” She asked following him.
“Hmm.” He looked up from the drink he was starting. “Yea, yea, I’m fine Carla.”
“Okay.”
He finished up the drinks and pushed them to her. He refilled a couple of drafts for some guests at the bar and looked to the dance floor once again to see if he could spot her. There were too many people there to find her, but he would see her again before she left if he had to find her himself. Beth and Jackie sat down at the bar and instantly Jackie started checking out Julian.
She figured him to be about 5”10, he seemed pretty short for a guy, but he had a stocky build and his muscles screamed at you. She couldn’t see the color, but the shape of his eyes were alluring and one look from them had you at his beck and call. And that hair, she loved a man with long hair. His was blond and came nearly to his midback. He had it pulled back into a ponytail and he was absolutely dangerously sexy.
“Hello ladies what can I get you?” He asked wiping the bar in front of them.
“Your phone number and what time you get off.” Jackie said smoothly leaning into him.
“Damn Jackie. Very subtle.” Beth said rolling her eyes. “I’ll have a frozen margarita.”
“You got it.” Julian said smiling from Jackie’s approach. “And you darlin’?” He’d play with her, but that’s as far as it would go.
“Mmm.” She ran her forefinger along his arm. “Surprise me.”
“Sure.” He winked at her.
When he turned, Jackie got a good look at his ass. It was tight and she couldn’t wait to get her hands on it.
“Shit. I can’t wait to get a piece of that.” Her mouth was watering.
“Easy girl.” Beth pretended to wipe Jackie’s mouth. “You’re drooling.”
Jackie just grinned and looked back to Julian. “He is hot.”
“That he is.” Beth agreed. “But I thought you and Mr. Doorman were the thing right now.”
“We are.” Jackie said never taking her eyes off of Julian. “But we’re not exclusive.”
“Of course not.” Beth rolled her eyes.
Julian returned with their drinks. “Take a sip.” He told Jackie.
She did so and really appreciated the drink. “Fabulous. What is it?”
“A Screaming Orgasm, something a lady should have plenty of.” Julian said huskily as he ran a forefinger down her cheek and walked off to help another guest.
Beth blew out a deep breath and then took a sip of her margarita. For the first time Jackie was speechless.
A few minutes later, Cassie and Missy stepped up to the bar. Missy was fanning herself and Cassie was laughing.
“Okay, that was more fun that I expected.” Cassie leaned in to see what her friends were drinking. She picked up Jackie’s drink and took a sip. “Ooo, that’s good. What is it?”
Beth and Jackie looked to each other and laughed. “Ask the bartender.” Beth said between breaths.
“You two are weird.” Cassie said shaking her head and waving trying to get his attention.
He knew she was there the moment she stepped up and once again she knocked him on his ass. He was a 360-year-old vampire and he felt like a teenage boy meeting his prom date for the first damn time. Cassie thought she’d been struck by lightning. What a man. Good god, was it possible to be that damn good looking and not get arrested for it. How many women lost their ability to speak when he spoke to them? How many women promised to give up their first born for him? He walked towards them slowly, no that wasn’t a walk, that was a gait, and it was strong and confident. Did the floor just shift beneath her? Damn, take a breath Cassie and control it girl.
“What else do you need ladies?” Julian asked looking quickly to Jackie and Beth, then back to Cassie.
“Umm, she’ll have one of those.” Beth said pointing to Cassie and then to Jackie’s drink.
Julian caught on instantly and flashed that killer grin of his. Cassie’s brain just stopped working. “Of course. And for you?” He looked to Missy.
“I’ll have what she’s drinking.” She pointed to Beth’s drink.
Julian nodded and walked off. Cassie followed his every move. There was a reason the four of them were best friends. Three of them looked to Cassie.
“Earth to Cassie.” Missy said waving her hand in front of Cassie’s face.
Cassie didn’t move.
“Hel-lo.” Jackie said snapping her fingers in front of Cassie’s face.
Cassie snapped out of it. “What?” She asked dumbly.
“Girl, you looked like you swallowed your tongue when the bartender walked over.” Jackie said appreciating Cassie’s reaction.
“I did not.” She tried to be indignant, but it was pointless, her friends knew her too well.
“You most certainly did too. And you swallowed it again as he walked away.” Missy looked over to him and then caught Cassie’s snort. “Oh please. We all did girl! Get over it!”
Cassie couldn’t help it, she laughed as did the rest of them. Julian returned shortly with their drinks. He put Missy’s down on the bar and handed Cassie hers. “Take a try and tell me what you think.”
Cassie took a sip and licked her lips afterward to catch every taste. Julian’s blood boiled. “That’s incredible.” She sipped again. “What’s it called?”“Screaming Orgasm.” Several of which I’ll be giving to you baby. For the first time since he saw her he caught her thought and it was a nice filthy one. He wondered when he’d be able to do that to her. He just smiled and winked at her. He caught sight of another new guest and walked off.
“Damn.” Missy nudged at Cassie. “It’s like he read your mind or something.”
Cassie thought about it a moment and then shook it off. “Good thing he didn’t right? Humans can’t do that anyway.” Instantly it hit her.
“He’s not human.” Beth said looking to him. “Remember, I’ve got a thing for vamps and he’s one or my name isn’t Beth Marie Kimball.”
“How do you know that?” Cassie asked frustrated now that she may have fallen for the very thing she’s supposed to rid the world of.
“I just do Cass, and I can’t explain it to you. He’s a vampire baby and he’s got his eye on you.” Beth sipped her drink. “You lucky bitch.” She teased.
Cassie just narrowed her eyes and shook her head. She glanced over at Julian and found him staring at her once again. He could start a fire with a look like that or melt a woman down to her knees. She could find him attractive dammit, but she wouldn’t fall for him.
“Hey Julian!” Someone else yelled.
Cassie jolted at the name. Julian? She was to kill a vampire named Julian. When she saw the bartender walk towards the other end of the bar she’d nearly dropped her drink.
“What’s up Logan?” He asked as he got closer to him.
Logan? You’ve got to be fucking kidding. Two of the very vampires she was supposed to kill right here in the same place. She moved a little closer to hear the conversation.
“I’ve got to step out for about an hour, can you keep an eye on things? I’ve asked Lonny to come back here to help you out so if you have to step away there will still be two bartenders.” Julian nodded. “Alyssa’s in the back if you need her for anything and I’ll have my phone on if anything comes up.”
“I’ve got it under control my friend.” Julian patted Logan’s back.
“As you always do.” He nodded and walked away.
I’ll be fucking damn. This is Logan’s club Eternity. Why didn’t I put 2 and 2 together?
“Shit. Shit.” Cassie said shaking her head.
“Cassie what’s wrong?” Beth asked looking to her quickly.
“Nothing.” She looked to Julian. Her emotions were in a tangle and she just needed some air. “Nothing. I’ve got to go now.” She slammed her glass on the bar and hurried out.
“Cassie!” Missy called to her. But she was long gone. “What the hell?” Missy asked looking to her friends.
“I don’t know.” Was all Jackie could think to say.
“Is the lady alright?” Julian asked concerned by how quickly she left.
“We don’t know.” Jackie answered looking to him.
“I’ll go the ladies room where it’s a bit quieter and try to call her.” Beth said sliding off the stool.
Julian just nodded his head and looked to the door where he saw Cassie hurry out. He walked over to Lonny and whispered something in his ear. Lonny nodded and Julian left the bar. He hurried outside to see if he could find her. As he stepped outside he could feel she was still fairly close and sniffed to get a sense of her direction. When he was sure the area was clear, he leaped up in the sky to fly and find her.
He found her sitting on the front stoop of her apartment complex. Her face was buried in her hands. He watched her from the shadow of maple tree debating on whether to go to her or not. The desire for her was frustratingly overwhelming and he’d never felt it for another of his kind nor a human…ever. Julian was never one to give in to his feelings, because feelings usually got you into a lot of trouble. But there was no winning here, either way. He didn’t talk to her, he was driven crazy by a desire never filled. He did talk to her and he risked emotions he never wanted to feel for another human being. The latter won out.
“Feeling okay pretty lady?” He asked stepping out of the shadows.
Cassandra jolted and stood up quickly. She knew the voice instantly and wanted nothing but for him to go away.
“What are you doing here? How’d you find me?” She asked bracing herself against the rail.
“Do you really need me to answer that?” He asked stepping forward towards her.
“Stay away from me.” She held out her hand to hold him off. She’d never been afraid of a vampire before, not in this way. It wasn’t a fear that he would kill her, it was a fear that she couldn’t quite get a grip on. It infuriated her. She wasn’t going to feel this way about something she was supposed to kill. And that’s what he was….something.
Julian stopped where he was and raised a brow. He was deep into her thoughts and couldn’t help himself. “So you’re a vampire hunter are you?” He took another step forward. Cassie backed up on the steps. “And you’re supposed to get rid of me,” He stopped to get the next thought, “and Logan. Interesting.” He stepped even closer.
“Are you reading my mind?” She tried to find her anger, but instead curiosity won.
“It’s one of my few ‘gifts’.” He chuckled in reply.
“Well stop it.” She hated that her voice wavered.
“As you wish.” He was directly in front of her now. How had he done that so fast and she didn’t catch it? Another one of his ‘gifts’…amazing speed?
“I’m going to kill you.” She said raising her chin to meet him eye level.
“Can’t kill me since I’m already dead sweetheart.” He toyed with a lock of hair.
She slapped his hand away and stepped further back. Big mistake as it put her directly against the door with nowhere to go.
“So, your job is to end my existence is it? And Logan’s too?” Julian stepped directly in front of her and placed a hand above her head on the door.
“Yes it is, and I will. You’re vampires and you’re evil, no matter how much you try to blend in and be like us, you never will be. My order wants you gone and I’ll see to it.”
He put his other hand on the other side of her head caging her in.
“You haven’t even spent anytime with me or Logan to see what we’re all about. We aren’t your typical vampires. We don’t drink blood, we don’t seek to hunt out humans just because we can, and we aren’t heartless. In a manner of speaking anyway since ours doesn’t beat.” He chuckled again. “Why kill us when we haven’t done anything wrong?” He moved closer to her causing his body to brush against hers. Cassie jolted and inwardly gasped. “Am I making you nervous?” He knew he was, but enjoyed playing with her.
“No.” That was a big fat lie and if he read her mind, she knew he already knew that. “But if you don’t step away from me I’ll scream and bring unwanted attention.”
He grinned slowly at her and moved even closer. One step closer, and he’d be on the other side of her. “Not very prepared for a vampire hunter are you? You don’t carry any weapons on you just in case you come across one of our kind. Not very wise, wouldn’t you say?” He ran a forefinger down her jawline.
“Get away from me.” It was a whisper and Cassie wondered why she just didn’t push him away. If he wanted to hurt her, he would have done so long ago, that she undoubtedly knew. When a vampire felt threatened it had no problem getting rid of that threat…instantly.
“Spend some time with me Cassandra and see who or what I really am. When you do, you’ll tell your order to drop dead and get a clue.”
“No.” She couldn’t breathe when he was this close to her. She closed her eyes and then took a deep breath.
“I’m going to have you Cassandra.” He leaned in to brush his lips across hers. “That’s a fact you just better get used to.”
That response triggered something. She reached up with both hands and pushed him back. It was like moving a brick wall, but he eventually did.“I’m not a new car or a toy!” She slapped at his chest again. “You’ll not have me unless I say so, and I never will!”
“You’re lying.” He said easily moving towards her again.
Now she was exasperated. “Stay out of my head you arrogant son of a bitch.”
He only grinned.
“Before I’m done with you…” And the rest was cut off as his mouth came down on hers.
He backed her against the door and cupped her neck with one hand and fisted the other in her hair. Her taste was just like he imagined: sweet, tangy, and erotic. He changed the angle of the kiss also changing the intensity. The kiss started out gentle and soft, but now it was dark and dangerous. She fisted her hands against his chest to beat him off, but instead dug her fingers into his shirt and held on for dear life. Beth had told her that kissing a vampire was an experience all to itself. That was no lie. No man had ever kissed her like this and probably never would. He drew her head back and found her neck. His fangs nearly came out til he realized how dangerous that would be. He was completely aroused and knew that he if wasn’t careful Cassandra would no longer be the hunter, but the hunted. He used his tongue to trace every curve of her neck. She heard him growl softly and before she could stop it the moan escaped her. Sensing victory, he buried his mouth over hers again in a kiss that clearly stated possession. Cassie was lost and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t fight him off. Julian pulled out of the kiss slowly and his eyes which had darkened from arousal never left hers.
Cassie really couldn’t breath now and any minute would probably fall to the stoop in a hopeless puddle of goo.
Julian ran his forefinger across her lips slowly. “Mine.” He said quietly. So quietly she nearly didn’t catch it. He backed up from her, looked to see if they were still the only two present, and came a few inches off the ground.
“Jesus, you can fly too?” She asked finally finding her voice.
“That I can baby and I’ll take you one day.” He winked at her, blew her kiss and took off into the sky.
Cassie fell back against the door and just stared to the sky where Julian flew off. What in the hell had just happened? In less than 2 hours her life had changed instantly. She’d fallen for the very thing she was supposed to destroy and he claimed her to be his. Well dammit, it wasn’t going to happen and Cassandra Bennett was going to find a way to get rid of him…immediately!
Over the next couple of weeks she did watch Logan and Julian. She discovered that Logan had a mate named Alyssa who at one time used to be human. 10 years ago, she decided she wanted to be like him and he made it so. Why? Cassie wondered. Why would anyone want an eternity of being a vampire? What was the point? She’d found out that Julian had created a serum that could end a vampire’s existence immediately. Why had he created it she wondered? She was able to ‘secure’ some from one of his trusted clan members. She explained how one certain vampire was stalking her and he frightened her and she wanted to get rid of him. It wasn’t a complete lie. Julian wasn’t so much stalking her as just being persistent, but she was frightened of him, frightened of the feelings he evoked from her. Getting rid of him would end those feelings…wouldn’t it?
Julian had explained to Cassie, no matter what she did to him, he would never lay a hand on her to hurt her. It wasn’t in his nature to harm a human unless he was in danger. But even knowing she wanted to end him, he couldn’t, he wouldn’t hurt her. He, Logan, and Alyssa had a long talk about Cassie and both and told him whatever decision he came to about her, they would back him 100 percent. Alyssa could partially understand Cassie’s predicament…falling for a vampire. She didn’t want to kill Logan, but it tied her emotions up for awhile knowing that one day she would be gone and he wouldn’t. That, in itself, was the deciding factor in her decision to become one of them. She has never regretted it since.
Alyssa had spent some time with Cassie to see if she could convince her that Logan and Julian weren’t the bad guys. She also explained that under no certain terms would she just sit by and watch Cassie destroy the one she loved. Alyssa explained that if she destroyed Logan and/or Julian, she would destroy her, no questions asked. Cassie respected the honesty and actually appreciated it. In some parts it made her sad because she knew that her and Alyssa might have been pretty good friends under different circumstances.
“But I don’t understand why I have to destroy Logan and Julian. I’ve seen them do nothing to harm a human or even one of their kind.” Cassie was talking to the head of her order. She stood behind a table and he was sitting in a chair in the front of the room with two other leads. The room was dimly lit and smoky.
“You have to destroy them because we’ve asked you to.” The lead spoke.
“But they’ve done nothing wrong.”
“Yet.” He said simply. “Why are you fighting to keep these two alive?”
“I’m not fighting to keep them alive.” That was a lie. “I just thought my job was to rid the world of the ones who had done wrong. I’ve only had to destroy one good vampire in the five years I’ve been doing this and that was simply because he made it perfectly clear that everyone who came near him would be like him. He was tired of being alone.”
“And?”
Cassie sighed. Why didn’t he get it?
“And, I have no justification for destroying Julian or Logan. I’ve been told by Logan’s mate that if I end them, she’ll end me.”
“So, you’ll destroy her too.” He stood slowly. He was a handsome man with a dangerous disposition. Cassie was only able to stand up to him because her brother sat to his left and knew he would take the knife for her if it came right down to it. “Cassandra,” He walked slowly towards her, “I don’t have to explain to you how unwise it is to argue with me about orders I’ve given you do I?” He placed his hand to her neck. Her brother rose. Cassie slowly shook her head at him to stop his movement forward.
“No, no you don’t.”
“Good.” He leaned forward to place a possessive and cold kiss to her lips. “You’ll get rid of Julian and Logan and then we’ll move on, understood?”
She didn’t answer.
He squeezed her neck. “I said,” his eyes darkened, “understood?”
“Yes.” She said gasping for air.
“Very good.” He released her and ran a finger down her cheek. “You’re dismissed.” He said turning his back to her and leaving the room.
Her brother watched him leave and hurried over to her.
“Cassandra, I’ll end his life before I ever let him touch you like that again, but why are you being so obstinate?” He put his hands on her shoulders. “You’ve never argued with Pierce before about your assignments, why start now?”
“You wouldn’t understand Lyle.” She turned away from him.
“Try me.” He said turning her back to him.
“Julian, he’s not like the others, it’s not fair.” She looked away from her brother.
Lyle examined her before speaking. He knew his sister as well as he knew himself. “You’ve fallen for him.”
“I have not.” She said trying to sound offended.
“Cassandra, I’ve known you for 25 years and you’ve never been able to put one over on me. You’ve fallen for one of the very beings you’re supposed to destroy.” He didn’t sound upset but compassionate.
Cassie only sighed and buried her head in Lyle’s chest. “What the hell am I supposed to do Lyle? I can’t destroy him. I’ve only known him for 2 weeks and I care so much about him. It was an instant attraction and no matter how hard I’ve tried to push it back down, I can’t.”
Lyle placed his arms gently around her and rested his cheek on her head. “Oh my sweet Cassandra.” He kissed the top of her head. “We’ll figure something out.” He pulled back to look at her. “In the mean time, just try to keep your distance from him so the attraction doesn’t grow any stronger than it already has okay?”
She nodded her head. “I love you so much Lyle.”
“And I you.” He kissed her nose.
“You’re not so bad for an overbearing big brother.” She poked at him playfully.
“And you’re okay for an obnoxious brat of a sister.” He patted her behind gently. He winked at her and walked off to join Pierce and the other leader behind closed doors.
Cassandra sat in the chair to think. What was she to do? And how would she do it? And could she do it? Could she destroy the very one she’d fallen hard for? Only time would tell.
Another couple of weeks had gone by and Cassandra was determined to start with Julian. She had to get rid of him first, these feelings she was having about him were wrong and she didn’t want to deal with them. There was something about him, something that pulled her in and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t fight it off. Wanting him in the way she’d want a human male was insane and if she just destroyed him, her feelings would stop.
Julian, knowing that she was, a vampire hunter didn’t seem at all worried about her. This particular night they were alone in Logan’s club as he was closed for inventory. Cassandra had followed him to the club and was determined to end his existence once and for all this evening, but Julian had other plans.
“I know you’re there Cassie.” Julian said coming from behind the bar and looking to the entryway that was dimly lit. “I can smell you.”
Cassandra made a face of frustration and mouthed the word shit to herself at being caught. She just knew she had put enough of the vampire scent on herself to not be scented. Obviously not.
“You can come out Cassandra, or I can come in.” He called her Cassandra knowing what it did to her when he did. She stepped out of the shadows never letting her eyes leave Julian’s.
“Don’t call me that.”
“Why not?” He asked with a slow grin.
“I don’t like it.”
“Liar.” Julian said taking a step towards her. She took one back.
“Afraid of me now Cassandra?” He raised a brow.
“I’m not afraid of you Julian. I never have been.” She narrowed her eyes at him. He took another step towards her and she took another back.
“When are we going to stop playing these games?” Julian asked still coming towards her.
“What games?” Why was she nervous all of a sudden? It wasn’t nerves from fear that Julian would hurt her either. He had already made it very clear he had no intention of doing so no matter what her intentions were towards him. The look she saw in his eyes had her spine tingling and she wished she had some way of countering it.
“Cassie.” He was now directly in front of her and had her trapped between his body and the bar. “If you truly wanted to, you could have ended my existence a long time ago.” He reached his hand behind her and pulled the vial from her belt. He waved it in front of her. She reached up to grab it, but Julian raised it above his head. “Two drops of this anywhere on my body and I’m history. I should know, I created it.” He chuckled softly. Julian brought his hand back down and placed it and the vial on the bar now caging Cassandra in. She took a shaky breath that she couldn’t control. “Are you nervous Cassie?” He leaned down and sniffed her hair. He loved her scent, he wanted to make it his. “Your smell is intoxicating.” He ran his nose down her jawline and to her neck. “I can marvel in it forever.” He flicked out his tongue on her neck. She gasped.
“St-stop.” She closed her eyes and fisted her hands by her side. She wanted to reach up and push him away, but for the first time, she was terrified of touching him. She knew if she did so now, she wouldn’t push away, but pull him in.
“No, I don’t think so.” He ran his tongue back up to her ear and heard her soft moan. “Touch me Cassandra.” He murmured in her ear.
She didn’t move.
He pulled back in looked deep into her eyes. “Touch me.” His voice was deep and mesmerizing.
She slowly shook her head.
Julian reached down and took both her hands in his. She let out a small whimper as he laced his fingers with hers. He brought both their hands to his chest and then removed his to grab hold of her face.
“I’m going to kiss you now Cassandra and you’re going to kiss me back.”
She again shook her head. Her hands were splayed against Julian’s chest. He was wearing one of his tighter t-shirts and she could feel his taut muscles.“For the last few weeks Cassandra, I’ve fought my attraction for you, but no more.” He moved in and placed his lips just inches from hers. “One of two things is going to happen tonight. Either you’re going to take me, or I’m going to take you.” He brushed a kiss on her lips for starters. “And believe me when I tell you, that the latter will be the much more enjoyable for the both of us.” As if there was room too, Julian pressed her deeper against the bar.
“Julian...”
“Just shut up and kiss me Cassie.” And Julian leaned in to her roughly and placed a kiss on her lips that made her weak in the knees. There was no doubt, no question about what Julian’s intent was. His tongue found the inside of her mouth and he did everything possible to make it his. She’d meant to push him away, but instead fisted her hands in his shirt and pulled him in for more. The kiss was tantalizing and she’d never in the years she’d been sexually active experienced anything like it.
“Let me make love to you Cassandra.” He ran kisses across her face. “Now.”
“Julian, I—wait.” Cassie went to push him away gently. “This isn’t going to happen.” She continued breathless.
“It already has.” He fisted his hands in her hair. “Make love with me.” He looked deep in to her eyes and what Cassie saw made her heart skip several beats.
“No.” Her denial surprised her. And that was a surprise within itself. She originally had no intention of sleeping with Julian or any other vampire, but something had happened over the last few weeks and she couldn’t explain it.
“You don’t mean that.” Julian’s voice deepened. There was a bit of anger there, but more frustration.
“I do.” She looked away from him.
“You forget,” he started confidently. “I can read your thoughts. And they tell me something totally different.” He leaned down to kiss her again. This was a soft and gentle kiss and it spoke volumes.
“Stay out of my head Julian!” Cassie pushed away from him and walked over to one of the tables.
“Then be honest with me.”
She turned to face him. After a few moments of deafening silence Cassie spoke. “Alright! I want you dammit!” Julian smiled broadly and walked towards her. Cassie held out her hand to stop him. “But it’s not happening!” She shook her head vehemently. “Julian, my job is to destroy you…period!”
“You already are Cassandra, in more ways than you can possibly imagine.” She didn’t mean to, but she smiled at him. “There’s that smile that I love.”
“Julian don’t.” She turned her back to him.
He walked over to her and put his hands on her shoulders. “It’s too late Cassandra. I can’t stop what already happened two weeks ago.”
She closed her eyes as if that would stop the words. “Don’t…”
“I love you Cassie. With every fiber of my being.” He kissed the top of her head. “And no matter how long it takes, considering time is all I have, I’ll wait for you to come to me willingly.” He kissed her again.
“Julian.” She turned to face him. She looked deep into his eyes. “Damn you.”
He grinned at her and kissed her nose lovingly. “So now that I’ve finally got that out in the open, you want to help me finish counting the liquor before Logan and Alyssa come back and skin me alive?”
Cassie just looked at him and lowered her eyebrows. She puckered her lip and thought about it. Why was this happening and why couldn’t she control it? “You can’t be skinned alive…you’re not.” She teased.
“You get my drift baby.”
“I do.” She reached for his hand. “So come on. I’ll help you.”
Julian grinned proudly. Gotcha. He thought. You’re mine lady. He smiled from the thought.
It was a couple weeks later and Cassie found herself standing outside of Julian’s door. It was the third time she was about to knock, but just couldn’t do it. Why was she here? What did she hope to accomplish? But most importantly, why did she feel the way she did about him? And what would her order do when they found out that Julian still lived? To her surprise, Julian opened the door while she stood there in deep thought. He smiled down at her and spoke softly.
“As always, I smelled you the moment you stepped out of your car. Come in?” He stepped back to let her in.
She nodded slowly and stepped inside. Julian closed the door behind her and leaned against it to look at her.
“I—I don’t know why I’m here.” She ran her hands down her thighs nervously. “I shouldn’t be here.” She looked away from him.
Julian stepped to her and placed two fingers under her chin and raised her face eye level to him. “Yes, you should.” He leaned down and kissed her softly. “And now that you are, you’re not leaving til I have my way with you.” He ran his hand through her hair.
Cassie just looked at him. She had no words. What could she say? How could she say it without sounding like a complete idiot?
“I want you in my bed.” Julian pressed her back to the wall and placed gently kisses along her jaw and neck. “I’m going to have you in my bed. Tonight.” He kissed her lips. “But first, I want to show you something I’ve been working on.” He laced his fingers with hers and walked her to the back of his town home where his laboratory was.
He turned on the light when they entered and walked over to one of the lab tables. Cassie watched him mesmerized. His walk was slow and confident. He had his hair loose this evening and as he walked it flowed. Cassie wanted to bury her hands in it and never let go. He was barefoot and wore nothing else but a pair of jeans. His chest was incredible. What would it feel like to have her naked chest up against his?
“You’ll find out soon enough baby.” Julian chuckled softly and sat down on the stool at his lab table.
“Dammit, stop that.” Cassie was embarrassed he read her thoughts. Now was not the time for him to be doing so.
“Can’t help it Cassandra. Your thoughts are screaming at me baby. I can’t help but answer them.” He winked at her and then gestured with his finger. “Come here.”
She took a deep breath to compose herself and then went to stand next to him.
“This,” he pointed to the petry dish in front of him, “is a small piece of my skin. And so is this.” He pointed to another one right next to it.
Cassie looked to him to see where he cut it from, but remembered another one of his “gifts” was the ability to heal quickly.
“Are you ready?”
She nodded her head in agreement.
Julian reached to the vial next to him and poured two small drops from it onto the portion of his skin in the dish. The skin disintegrated within seconds. Cassie just stood there speechless.
“So you know what that was right?”
She could only nod.
“Now, watch this.” He took the same vial and poured two drops from it on to the patch of his skin in the other dish and then immediately reached for another vial and poured all of it into the dish. The skin, instead of disintegrating started to regenerate slowly. It was pretty amazing. Cassie’s eyes grew wide at the sight.
“You made a serum to counteract what your original does.”
“Yup.” Julian smiled proudly and pushed back from the table.
“Why?”
“So if need be you can you use it on me, Logan, or Alyssa.”
“Julian, what if it doesn’t work? That’s just a small sample of your skin.”
“It’ll work, I’ve already tested it on myself.” He turned so she could see his back. It was red and scarred from the healing process. She winced at the sight and not being able to stop herself, touched him gently. “That’s from a week ago. I had Alyssa and Logan help me out. I had Alyssa inject me with the “killer” serum and my back as well as the rest of me started to evaporate quickly. Logan then quickly took the antidote and injected me and the process stopped. It wasn’t instant, but looking at me, you would have thought me…gone I’ll say.”
Cassie just shook her head. She couldn’t believe it, but she had no desire to try out Julian’s experiment. She had feelings for him that she couldn’t control and the last thing she wanted now was for him to be gone. She looked to the dishes and just shook her head.
“What’s the matter?” Logan asked turning her face gently to face him.
“I don’t like it.”
“What’s the problem?”
“The problem is, if something happens and we don’t get that serum into you fast enough, you’re gone Julian and I, I don’t know if I can bear that.” She walked away from him.
“What are you saying Cassie?” He asked standing and walking over to her.
“Don’t make me say it Julian. This is hard enough as it is. I shouldn’t feel this way. I don’t know what my order will do to me if they find out.”
“They won’t find out.” He turned her to face him. “Say it Cassie, I need to hear it.”
She looked deep into his eyes and placed her hands at his waist. “Can’t you read my thoughts? For a change, I want you to now.”
“It’s not the same Cassandra. Tell me.” He wrapped his arms tightly around her waist.
She took a deep breath and said it. “I love you.”
Julian moaned and leaned down to kiss her long and sensually. “I feel as though I’ve waited an eternity to hear you say that.”
“You have.” She laughed nervously. “I love you Julian and I don’t want anything to happen to you. I’ll deal with my order, trust me to do that before you even consider putting you and Logan through this” She looked to the dishes and vials.
Julian stroked her cheek softly and caught her eyes with his. “I’ll trust you to do what you can, but if they lay one hand on you Cassandra, I’ll end their existence as they know it and they won’t have a clue what hit them.” She had no doubt Julian could and would do it.
“I’ll take care of it.” She placed her hand on his cheek.
“And I’ll take care of you.” He leaned down to kiss her again. “And now, I want to show you how much I can love you.” He laced his fingers with hers and walked her backwards out of his lab. He turned off the lights with his elbow and walked Cassie to his bedroom two doors down.
“How did this happen?” Cassie asked as Julian continued walking her backwards.
“I don’t know, but I can’t say I’m disappointed.” He stopped her at his bed and released her hands. He walked over to his dresser and turned off both his cell phone and landline. “I don’t want any interruptions.” He closed the blinds. “For quite awhile.”
Cassie was beyond nervous. She felt like a virgin on prom night out with the high school football star.
Julian walked over to her slowly. He was checking out every inch of her body as he did. He was trying to figure out where he wanted to start. “Raise your hands.” He suggested quietly. She did just that without a moment’s hesitation. Julian removed her sweater and threw it to the chair behind him. He caught Cassie’s hands before she brought them down. He placed them behind her back and then leaned down to nibble on her neck. She closed her eyes in ecstasy and moaned softly.
“Your taste is even more incredible than your smell.” He growled as he continued to nibble on her neck. “I want to taste every delicious inch of this gorgeous body.” Cassie didn’t think she could handle it, but she was damn well gonna try. “I promise you a night of passion like you never experienced with any other man.”
“I’ve only been with one other.” Why did she tell him that?
“I know.” She went to ask how, but rolled her eyes and sighed. “It was the first thought you had when you entered my bedroom. Does my ego proud to know that I’ll be the second and I’ll be the last.” He said the last part with certainty. After tonight, any man that got within 100 feet of Cassandra probably wouldn’t live to talk about it. “It’s been about 10 years since I’ve been with another woman or even one of my kind.” Cassandra just looked to him shocked. “So I can only warn you that if it becomes too much for you, you better give me a sign of some sort.” Her eyes grew wide. “I won’t stop Cassandra, not until you’re mine in every way possible.” He kissed her aggressively.
“Will a safe word work?” She asked dumbly after finding her breath.
“It will. Can’t promise how quickly I’ll stop though.” She gasped. “Relax baby.” He stroked her back. “Tell me what it is.” She stood on her toes and whispered in his ear. “Clever.” He smiled broadly. “That’ll do nicely.” He reached up to undo her bra strap. In one smooth move, he had it off and behind him in the same chair as her sweater. “God, these are beautiful.” He cupped her breasts like a chalice and leaned down to kiss each one delicately. “I think I’ll pleasure you here for awhile.” He pushed her down to the bed.
“Awhile?” Cassie asked surprised.
“Mmm-hmm.” Julian responded as he flicked his tongue across her nipple. It hardened immediately and she lost a breath. “Oh, I like that. Let’s see how the other one reacts.” Same reaction. He grinned catlike and ran one of his hands down to her pants. “I want these off.” He undid the button and zipper. “Now.” He slid the pants off of her slowly trailing kisses down her thighs and legs as he did. Cassie was finding it very difficult to breath. If this was Julian’s idea of foreplay, then she was in a heap of trouble. He ran his tongue along her toes and did delicious and wicked things to them. She fisted her hands in the sheets and moaned softly.
“I want to hear more of that.” Julian said in a passionate and husky voice. “I want to hear that all night long.” He gave her another reason to moan. He chuckled confidently and trailed kisses back up her leg and thigh and stopped just at her center. “Mmm, you’re ready for me aren’t you?” He asked looking in to her eyes as he ran his finger along areas that sent Cassie into ecstasy overdrive. He found her already hot and moist and couldn’t wait to explore her more. “How much do you want me Cassie?”
She couldn’t answer.
“How much do you need me?” He stroked her breast with one hand and used the other to bring her to heights beyond her control. “Answer me.” He demanded. “How much do you need me?” Julian put emphasis on the word need.
“More, more than I can explain.” She answered in ragged breaths. “Julian please, I—I can’t.”
He shook his head and that slow, sexy grin took over his face. “Mmm-mmm baby. Unless I hear a safe word, I don’t stop.” He increased his effort. He used his knee to spread her legs apart even further and then he placed himself comfortably between them. “I’m going to make you mine in every way possible tonight.” He placed his face where his hand used to be. Cassie arched against him. He inhaled her scent luxuriously and then spoke, “Mmm, nice. Be prepared for the ride of your life Cassandra. You better hang on tight baby.” He used his tongue to do what his hand was and Cassie let out a small shrill that later turned into gasps. Julian had no intention of being gentle or kind. He’d wanted Cassandra from day one and had every intention of showing her how much. Making love to a vampire could overwhelm a human to a degree that can’t even be explained. Stories have even been told of humans who have died after a session with a vampire because it was too much for their bodies to handle. That’s why Julian told Cassie to come up with a safe word. He had no intention of losing her anytime soon. He also didn’t want to make her “completely” his just yet. He knew that would be too dangerous until he knew the clans had accepted her for what and who she was. She writhed underneath him and fisted her hands in his hair. His name left her lips every now and again. It was the only thing she could think to say.
Julian brought her to a delirious peak. He felt her body go pliant and melt against him right before. He had every intention of making sure that happened to her a few more times this evening.
He worked his way back up her body. Sliding his body deliciously up hers. “You okay?” He asked softly as he placed a gentle kiss on her lips.
Cassie shook her head. She couldn’t open her eyes…it was too much work. Julian grinned and kissed her again. “I’ll give you a minute or two to recover, but that’s it. I’ll be right back.” He kissed each of her breasts and slid off of her. He stepped into the bathroom and came out a few minutes later completely naked.
Cassie just stared at him in disbelief. How beautiful he was for a 360-year-old vampire. And that walk, it was confident, strong, and utterly sexy.
“You wanted to know what your chest would feel like against mine?” He reached out his hand for hers. She could only sit up and nod her head. “Let’s find out.” He helped her stand and pulled her gently against him. When their bodies met, Cassie just closed her eyes in delight. It felt incredible. She never wanted Julian to let her go.
He trailed kisses along her shoulder, neck, and jawline. He ran his hands sinfully up and down her back. “I love the way you feel against me Cassandra. Tell me what you want. Tell me how I can please you this evening.”
She couldn’t find the words to begin, so she just let her thoughts take control.
“I will love you,” he answered her thought smiling. “Tell me how.”
The words finally came. “Anyway you want Julian. I want you to do things to me that I can’t even dream of.” She couldn’t believe she was saying this.
Julian was pleased. He raised a brow. “Anyway and anything I want?”
“Yes.” It was a whisper.
“Your wish is my command Cassandra.” He leaned down to kiss her long, slow, and passionately.
Julian pushed Cassie down to the bed and placed kisses over inch of her body. She reached to touch him, but he pinned her hands to her side.
“Please let me touch you. I have to touch you.” She struggled to free her hand. “I need to touch you.”
“I want you to let me pleasure you in this way first.” He kissed her torso. “I want you to experience sensations like you never have before.” Cassie sighed hopelessly. “When you think you’ve had enough,” he kissed her sides. “Say the safe word and you can touch me all you want, anyway you want.”
“Julian.” She said his name pleading.
“The safe word baby, when I’ve pleasured you enough.” He slid up her body again. “And don’t even think about saying it now.” He ran his tongue along her lips sinuously.
Having nothing to do but surrender she kept her hands down by her sides. She looked to Julian with eyes of pleading, arousal, and desire.
It may have only been about 30 minutes later, but to Cassie it felt like an eternity. She said the safe word and immediately buried her hands in Julian’s hair. She pulled his face down to hers and bit his lip before burying her tongue in his mouth. She was beyond aroused and what little control she had left was leaving her body quickly. Not knowing how, she rolled Julian over and straddled him quickly. He growled from pleasure and ran his hands along her sides. She ran her nails down his chest…she drew blood. Julian winced and his eyes grew dark from passion. Cassie ran her forefinger through the blood and slowly brought her finger to her lips. She knew what would happen if she tasted Julian’s blood, and she wanted it. She would heal quicker if she injured herself. Her senses would heighten to lengths she couldn’t believe, but most of all, her sexual desire would increase a hundred fold. Her desire for Julian would be insatiable, it would never end. Alyssa had warned her that the first time she tasted Logan’s blood after she herself had become a vampire was indescribable! If she had been living, it would have nearly cost her, her life. Alyssa told Cassie, she’d do it all over again. She has. Cassie was now willing to take that risk. Julian grabbed her wrist before she put the blood to her mouth.
“You know what will happen when you taste my blood?”
“Yes.” She answered breathlessly.
“Are you ready for that?”
“Yes.”
Julian released her wrist and Cassie put the finger to her mouth and licked off Julian’s blood. Her eyes rolled back in her head and the feeling overtook her.
“More.” She leaned down to lick at the blood on his chest. Julian fisted his hands in her hair. She licked and sucked on him desperately and Julian reveled in it.
“Here.” Cassie heard the sound of his fangs coming out and looked up to see Julian drawing blood from his own wrist. His eyes were desperately dark from passion and arousal at seeing Cassie’s reaction to his blood. “Take all that you need baby.” He held his wrist out to her.
Cassie grabbed at his wrist and feasted on it. His blood was the most delectable thing she tasted ever and she didn’t know if she could get enough of it. She moaned as she sucked on his wrist and began to move against him erotically. It was the most beautiful thing Julian had seen…ever…Cassie overcome with passion from sucking on his blood. He wondered, if she were like this now, what would she be like as one of them. But he would save that for another time.
Overcome with desire, Cassie dropped Julian’s wrist and began fondling herself. She never wanted anyone to the extent she wanted Julian and it was incredible.
“I want you Julian. Dammit, take me now.” She ran her hands up his chest slowly and seductively. Her voice was low and raspy and her eyes had darkened also.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Julian flipped Cassie onto her back and pushed open her legs with his knee.
“Look at me Cassandra.” His fangs came out once again. “Look at me when I make you mine.”
Her eyes came open and were glazed with desire and passion.
Julian entered her forcefully and quickly and Cassie let out a scream of pleasure. He muffled her cries with mind-numbing kisses as they moved together fiercely. It was an experience like no other and Cassie never wanted it to end. Julian took her up and over repeatedly and was murmuring to him in a language she didn’t understand. It was erotic though and Cassie found all her control, all of her will, gone. Whatever she had was Julian’s now, she was his. He moved inside of her desperately and with a passion she’d never felt before. Her body was his and she ran her nails down his back roughly as he took her to a glorious peak.
Cassie lay against Julian spent and beyond sated. She wasn’t sure when she’d be able to walk or move again, but she was in no hurry. Julian stroked her torso gently as he turned his head to place a couple gentle kisses to her forehead. Julian had been with many women and many more vampires, but none of them had affected him the way Cassie did. For the first time, it surprised him.
Not knowing what else to say, Cassie said the first thing that came to mind. “I love you Julian.”
“And I love you too Cassandra.” He kissed her.
“I don’t think I’ll ever be the same again.” She stretched against him luxuriously. “Your blood is amazing. What it does to me is amazing.”
Julian chuckled. “I’m glad you enjoyed it. There’s plenty more where that comes from.” He shifted his position so Cassie lay on top of him now.
“Will it be like this if I become like you?”
Julian placed his hand under her chin and raised it so he could look her eye to eye. “It’ll be even more intense if you can believe it.” Cassie took a deep breath. “But that’s something we can talk about at another time and place.” He kissed her nose.
“Don’t you want me to be like you?”
“More than you’ll ever know, but it’s not a situation to take lightly Cassandra. Once I taste your blood, there’s no turning back baby.”
There were a few moments of silence between them.
“Julian?”
“Hmmm?”
“Why me?”
“What do you mean?” He stroked her hair gently.
“How could you fall in love with me? I’m a vampire hunter, I kill your kind without a second thought.” She reached up to play with the ends of his hair.
“No, you don’t kill my kind. You kill the blood seekers and the night dwellers that give my kind a bad name. And I couldn’t control my feelings for you. They were instant. I fell in love with you before I could stop myself.”
“But I was going to kill you and Logan too.”
“Was?” He wasn’t surprised to hear the past tense.
“You know I can’t do it now. Not after the last few days, not after tonight.” She nuzzled deeper in to him.
“I know that baby.” He kissed the top of her head. “What do your think your order will say about it?”
“I’ll convince them to let me find the real trouble makers. The ones who are bringing trouble to Logan’s and your clans. And if I know them like I think I do, they’ll give me a month to do so and if I don’t succeed, they’ll come after you two with or without me. One of the leaders is my brother, and he’s on my side thank god. When it comes right down to it, Lyle backs me no matter what. RIght now Pierce is being very difficult about it, but Lyle will bring him around eventually. ”
“We’ll find them baby. I promise you that.”
“We?” She sat up against him.
“We.”
“Oh no. You can’t be seen with me in that way Julian. If a clan sees us together and it’s the wrong one, not only is my life in jeopardy, but your existence is.”
“And the problem is?” He asked without a bit of concern in his voice.
She sat completely up and away from him. “The problem is, some clan out there has some of your serum that can destroy you and Logan and for that matter Alyssa instantly. I won’t have that if I can avoid it.”
Julian sat up and took her hands in his. “And I have the antidote remember?” He kissed one of her palms.
“Which won’t do a damn bit of good if I can’t get it to you in time Julian!” Cassie was frustrated with his stubbornness.
“Cassandra, my love, do you trust me?” He cupped her face in his hands.
She just narrowed her eyes at him.
He asked again. “Do you trust me?”
“With my heart and soul.” She answered grabbing his hands.
He placed a gentle kiss on each cheek. “Then understand that this is a battle you will not fight alone. If one of our clans seeks to bring harm to me, you, Logan, or Alyssa, you best believe I’ll find them and end them.” He brushed his lips against hers. “Okay?”
She nodded her head and smiled at him.
“Now, I believe we have some business to finish up.” He pushed her back down on the bed.
“Julian, you can’t be serious.” Cassie giggled as his hands started to work their magic again. “Don’t you need recovery time?”
“Baby, I’m a vampire.” He nipped at her lips. “It’s my mate who needs the time to recover.”
“Your mate?” She tried to sound insulted. “Is that all I am to you?” She wrapped her arms around his neck.
“Oh no Cassandra. You’re so much more.” He ran his tongue from her jawline to her ear. “Let me show you.”
Over the next hour, he did just that.
She was at ETERNITY with a couple of her friends and it was everything Cassie could do to keep her eyes off of Julian. They’d been together for the last couple weeks and she just couldn’t get enough of him. He was helping behind the bar this evening because one of the bartenders was out sick. He’d made eye contact with her several times over the course of the evening and she read each message loud and clear.
“Having a good time ladies?” Logan asked leaning in close so he could be heard.
“We are Logan, thanks!” One of the friends spoke excitedly.
“Drinks are on me this evening, help yourself.” He winked at them and left.
“I’d like to have more than my drink on him.” The same girl spoke eyeing Logan as he walked away. “Shit, the things I could do to him.”
Cassie just shook her head and smiled.Instantly, Alyssa appeared. “How’s it going Cassie?” She asked never looking at her but to the other girl instead.
“Just fine Alyssa.” Oh-oh, she thought to herself. Here it comes. Cassie just sipped her drink and sat back.
“He’s mine sweetheart.” Alyssa said stepping closer to the problem.
“Excuse me?” She asked incredulously looking Alyssa up and down.
“Logan, he’s mine.” Alyssa stepped closer. “Has been for the last 10 years and will be forever.”
The girl was infuriated, but couldn’t find the words to speak. Something about Alyssa sent up warning signals.
“Jackie, just back off.” Another friend suggested.
“That’s a great idea…Jackie.” Alyssa stepped even closer. They were nearly nose-to-nose. “Keep your eyes, hands, and everything else off of him or next time I won’t be so nice.” Alyssa lowered her eyes at Jackie and glared at her. “I’ll see you later Cassie.” Alyssa said still looking at Jackie.
“That you will Alyssa.” Cassie just sipped her drink. She knew that Alyssa picked up on Jackie’s emotions instantly.
Alyssa brushed up against Jackie and turned to walk away. To put the nail in the coffin she walked up behind Logan and grabbed his ass possessively. He turned around grinning and placed a kiss on her that would have melted any other woman at the knees. Alyssa ran her fingers through his hair and brought him in closer to deepen the kiss. After a few minutes, Logan pulled back and looked at her. He knew exactly where this surge of sexual energy came from. Happened every time she “fended” off one of his many “admirers”.
“Which one is it this time?” He asked running his finger on the outside of her lips.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” She said innocently but grinned up at him in that feline way he loved.
“Mmm-hmm. There won’t be a single female to come in to my club if you keep scaring the life out of them.” He placed his hand on her ass and squeezed gently.
“They can come in all they want. They just need to keep their hands, eyes, and thoughts off of you.” She ran her leg up and down his. “Meet me upstairs in 20 minutes.” She said as her eyes darkened.
“Is there something you need?” He teased stroking her thigh.
She pulled his head down to hers and spoke in his ear. She let her fangs come out first. “You come upstairs and I’ll show you exactly what I need.” She growled at him and bit his ear drawing blood.
“Behave Alyssa.” He said tsking at her. “You’ll draw unwanted attention.” He kissed her on the nose and smiled that cocky smile at her.
“20 minutes.” She grabbed his ass one final time and turned to walk away.
He watched her saunter off and then turn around to blow him a kiss. He blew one back and went back to the business at hand.
“What a bitch.” Jackie said after watching the little exchange between Logan and Alyssa.
“Can’t blame her.” Cassie said calmly. “You had eyes on her man.” Man. Cassie giggled inwardly from the thought. Logan was far from being a man, but her friends didn’t need to know that.
“I don’t even know how she knew that. She was nowhere around when Logan first came over!” Jackie brushed some lint off her jeans.
“If you only knew.” Cassie murmured sipping her drink.
“What?” The other friend said.
“Nothing.” Cassie said finishing off her drink. “Anyone else want another drink?”
Jackie just shook her head angrily.
“I’ll take another martini.” The other friend answered handing Cassie her glass.
“You got it.” Cassie walked over to the bar. She went to the end and waited for Julian or the one of the cocktail waitresses to help her out.
“Whatcha need baby?” A waitress asked her coming to the end of the bar and dropping her tray on it.
“Gin martini extra dry, extra olives, and a margarita on the rocks.”
“You got it!” She said smiling at her. She ducked under the bar. “Julian, baby, order in!” He signaled to her he’d be right there.
He caught sight of Cassie and winked at her. To anyone else it just looked a bartender flirting with one of the pretty girls. She smiled at him and looked away before she got both of them in trouble. The waitress ducked back out again.
“I’ll be in the restroom if you’ll just tell the bartender to leave the drinks here and that Logan said they’re on the house.”
“Will do!” The waitress responded and then hurried off.
Cassie grinned at her and went to the restroom. As she got there someone stepped out of the shadows and blocked her way.
“Excuse me.” She said trying to step around him. He moved in front of her again. “I said excuse me.” She said looking up at him.
“Heard you the first time…vampire hunter.” He said in a cool voice.
Oh shit.
Another stepped out of the corner.
“I don’t want any trouble.” Cassie said backing up.
“You started that the moment you came in to town killing our kind.” The other spoke moving closer to Cassie to cage her in.
Cassie took a deep breath and looked to both of them. She had no way to protect herself and wasn’t going to do the girlie thing and scream for help. She’d just do the next best thing, she’d outsmart them.
“Listen, unless you’re a bloodthirsty night dweller killing innocent humans, then you have nothing to worry about.”
“Not all humans are innocent.” The first vampire spoke moving closer to her. “You’re living proof of that.”
“I’m only doing the job I was chosen to do.” She said trying to calm herself and them as well.
“And we’re going to do the job you’ve labeled us with.” The other vampire spoke.
“How do you know I don’t have something with me that can destroy you right now? Is that a chance you’re willing to take?”
They looked to each other and then back to Cassie.
“Yes.” They said in unison.
Cassie took another deep breath and steeled herself for the worse. If she was going down, she was going down fighting. She heard their fangs come out and then heard her guardian angel. Could she call him that? He was a vampire after all.
“Brandon! Dradon! Is there a problem?” Julian asked from a distance.
They looked to Julian. He moved closer when they didn’t answer. “I said,” He gently pulled Cassie from between them. “Is there a problem?”
“No,” Brandon started. “We just wanted to ask the vampire hunter a couple of questions.”
“The vampire hunter has a name.” Julian stated coolly. “And that would be Cassie.” He moved her behind him.
Dradon just narrowed his eyes at Julian and placed his hand on Brandon’s shoulder. “We can ask her at a later time.”
“That would be advisable.” Julian agreed calmly. A bit too calmly Cassie thought.
The three of them eyed each other over the next several moments. Cassie knew if one of them let go, it was going to be an ugly situation.
“I’ll just go back to the bar.” She said trying to cut through the tension.
“Actually, I came to tell you that Alyssa needs your assistance with something in the office.”
“Okay.” Cassie said not understanding. “Where is it again?”
He gestured with his head. “Down that hallway, third door on your right.” His eyes never left Brandon’s or Dradon’s.
Cassie just looked to the three of them, shook her head, and then walked off. She got to the office door and knocked.
“Alyssa, it’s Cassie.” No response. “Alyssa?” She knocked again. “Hmm.” She went to open the door. “Alyssa?” She called poking her head in. The office was dimly lit and not a soul was in there. “Maybe I got the wrong door.” She said stepping back to close it.
“No it’s the right one.” Julian said now standing instantly behind her. He shoved her in and slammed it shut behind them.
“Julian, what’s wrong with you?” She asked turning to look at him. Her next question was cut off by his aggressive kiss.
He pulled her to him and wrapped his arms around her tightly and plundered her mouth with his. There was no sensitivity in this kiss, no gentleness. It was all aggression, passion, and need. Cassie threw her arms around him and let him have his way with her. Where did this come from she wondered? They had only been together that morning so she knew it wasn’t from a lack of each other.
“Julian…” She started trying to pull out of the kiss. He only grabbed her face and captured her mouth again. “Julian…baby…” She tried to push him back. It was like trying to move a concrete wall.
“Shut up Cassandra.” He said burying his mouth into hers again. He reached behind him and locked the door and then started to tear her clothes off of her.
“Julian. The bar.” She said struggling against him.
“Damn the bar.” He said racing kisses all over her face.
“Baby,” Cassie placed her hands on his chest. “Slow down.” She put a gentle kiss to his lips. “Tell me what brought this on.”
He just looked deep into her eyes. His had gone to that fierce darkness that happens when he’s aroused or excited.
“I was in the process of making a drink when this feeling came over me.” He kissed her hard and quick. “I knew instantly you were in trouble.”
Cassie stroked his sides.
“I asked one of the cocktail waitresses to bartend for me and when I hit the corner I could smell the fear pouring off of you. I was ready to rip both Brandon and Dradon to shreds!” He kissed her aggressively again. “Did they put their hands on you? Please say yes.” He was ready for the fight. His eyes went to red as they did when he was angered.
“No, they didn’t.” She placed her hand to his cheek. “So you’re ready to ravish me because your adrenalin is pumping from the confrontation?” She was flattered.
“Yeah. I’ve got to do something with this excess energy, and killing you is not an option.” Julian pushed her backwards to the desk.
“I should be insulted.” She said running her hands now up and down his chest. “But I’m not.” She sat on the desk and wrapped her legs around Julian’s hips. “You want to ravish me?” Her voice deepened. She leaned back keeping her legs around him and pulled off her t-shirt. She was naked underneath. “Have at it baby.” She purred.
He murmured something savagely in his native tongue and buried his face in her breasts. He did more than ravage her, he sent her to places she never even dreamed of.
Dradon and Brandon stood in one of the darkest corners of the club. They were checking out potential “clients” as well as their own kind. They blended in so well with humans it was only other vamps that could distinguish the difference between the two.
“You know, I don’t see Julian back behind the bar yet, do you?” Brandon asked looking in that direction.
“No, I haven’t. And it’s been say what, 30 or 40 minutes since our altercation.” Dradon answered also looking to the bar searching for Julian.
Brandon nodded his head.
“Don’t see the vampire hunter either. Very interesting they’re both still gone and even more interesting how quickly he came to her rescue.” Dradon puzzled it out in his mind. “Awful quick to come to the rescue of someone who’s only known reason for existing is to destroy our kind.”
Again Brandon nodded as he scoped out the rest of the club.
“Think we should keep an eye on those two. I got a sense when they were both together.” Dradon looked over to entryway next to the bar. “Speak of the devil.” He said gesturing with his head.
Cassie came walking in first and headed over to the bar to wait for her drinks. She was pretty sure her friends had given up on her returning at this point, but no hurt in trying. Julian was about a minute behind her and by looking at them both Brandon knew exactly what was up.
“Damn, I can smell the sex coming off of both of them.” He sounded disgusted and annoyed.
“He’s fucking a vampire hunter? How desperate can he be?” Dradon looked at him in repulsion.
“We’ll have to remedy that situation pretty quickly don’t you think?” Brandon asked now looking to Dradon. He picked up on the hint instantly.
“Yea. We’ll have to have our little fun with her before destroying her. The one thing I can say about our kind is that we always know a good fuck when we smell one.” He laughed evilly. Dradon joined him.
Julian placed the drinks down in front of Cassie and then leaned in to speak to her. No one was looking so he stuck his tongue in her ear.
“Julian behave!” She tried to keep her composure. “Someone might be watching.”
“Any human or any vamp looking at us now would only think I’m hitting on the sexiest woman in the club.” He bit her ear. “And I am.” He pulled back and looked at her. “I’ll also be doing a lot more than hitting on her when I get off of work in an hour. My place, be there.” His eyes and voice left no suggestion for denial. “You have my key.”
Cassie just looked at him, nodded, and picked up her drinks.“Enjoy your drinks sweetheart!” Julian said loud enough for everyone to hear and then winked at her.
Cassie only shook her head and walked off a little shaky to her table.
A couple of months had elapsed and Cassie was working with her brother Lyle as well as Logan, Alyssa, and Julian in finding in way to out the bad clan. Pierce decided to back off since Lyle explained to him if he pressured his sister one more time, it would be his last time. There was one thing Pierce respected and that was loyalty. Lyle showed nothing but that for his sister and for that matter his order.
It was a late evening and Cassie was walking along the riverfront in her own thoughts. She and Julian were deeply in love and more than she needed her next breath, she wanted to be like him. She’d asked him to turn her the night before, but he refused and purely for her safety. There would be another time he told her. They’d pleasured each other numerously throughout the evening and Cassie couldn’t imagine her life with anyone else. She smiled at the thought and wondered how the hell she’d gotten there. From wanting to kill every vampire that she came in contact with if they warranted it to falling in love with one in less than three months. It just didn’t seem real at times.
She was so deep in her thoughts, she didn’t even sense their arrival. After her time with Julian, Logan, and Alyssa, she’d learn to become more attune to her surroundings and when she wasn’t always alone. Julian promised her that it was something that would become sensory sharp once she became one of them.
“All by yourself this evening vampire hunter?” Brandon asked from the shadow of a tree.
Cassie jolted and turned to look at him. No sense in lying, he was a vampire and knew when one of his kind was around. “Yes, I’m alone, but it seems to me you’re looking to change that.”
“What do you think Dradon?” He looked up to the tree. “Are we looking to change that?”
Dradon jumped down from well within the tree. “I’d say we are Brandon.” He brushed off his pants and took the leaf he held and grasped it between his teeth. “You know vampire hunter, that brother and lover of yours sure put up one hell of a fight for your honor.” Dradon grinned coldly.
Cassie gasped inwardly and did her best to maintain her composure. The last thing she needed to do was let down her guard, but Dradon’s words had already unraveled some of it. “What are you talking about?” She asked as confidently as she could.
“What we’re talking about,” Brandon started as he moved towards her, “is the fact that your brother and your lover are our prisoners now.” She couldn’t help it, her eyes grew big. Julian nor Lyle would have never allowed themselves to be captured willingly by other vampires. She had to figure out if Brandon and Dradon were lying to her to simply get to her. If that were the case, so be it as she would give her life for her brother and Julian knowing they would do it for her.
“I find that hard to believe.” She started turning her back to them to compose herself. “Julian, nor Lyle would ever let you get that close to them without destroying you first.”
Brandon chuckled arrogantly. “You know them so well Cassandra.” It was the first time he’d ever used her name and the full version of it at that. She didn’t like how it came off his tongue. “So tell me what’s it like for you, sleeping with one of us.” He ran a finger across her shoulder up to her neckline. How badly he wanted to sink his fangs into it and drain her of every ounce of her blood. He didn’t want her to be like them and draining her of all of her blood with none of his to ‘revive’ her would end her life.
Cassie tried not to pull away from his touch. Maybe, just maybe if she gave the impression it was him she wanted that would put things in her favor.
“You want to know what it’s like sleeping with a vampire.” She turned to face him and her eyes had changed. She wanted to be sure Brandon got the right, but wrong idea. “You’d already know that since you are one right?” She stepped closer to him. She saw his eyes darken and continued on.
“Why don’t you take me to them and then you can,” She ran her finger along his jawline, “have your way with me in front of both them and see what it’s like for me to be fucked by a vampire.”
Dradon stepped closer and his eyes had darkened too. He stood directly behind Cassie caging her in between he and Brandon.
“You gonna let us both fuck you?” Brandon asked as his eyes narrowed and he leaned in to her.
“If you think you can handle it.” She said reaching behind her to grab Dradon’s thigh.
His fangs came out and he grabbed her hair and yanked her head back. He ran his tongue all over her neck and took his other hand to find her breast.
Aroused by the sight, Brandon’s fangs came out and found the other side of her neck with his mouth and fondled her other breast. Cassie moaned, but purely from disgust. Brandon and Dradon took it the other way and increased their motions.
“Let’s do her now.” Dradon said ruggedly as he reached for the zipper on her jeans. “And then again once we get her in front of the others.”
Brandon thought about it as he placed a hard and aggressive kiss across her lips.
“No let’s save it Dradon.” He regretted his decision. He took Cassie’s hand and placed it between his legs. “I’m more than ready to show her what it’s like to be with a ‘real’ vampire, but let’s save it for her brother and lover.”
Dradon growled in her ear and pulled away from her. He murmured something in vampire tongue. By the way it was said and the look in his eye as he said it, Cassie knew she probably didn’t want it translated.
“So I take it you’re coming with us willingly.” Brandon said reaching for her breast again and tweaking the nipple.
Cassie shuddered and tried not to be revolted. Think of Julian, think of your brother Cassandra, this is for them. “Of course, I just need a few…things from my place first and you can take me wherever it is we’re going.”
“We’ll follow you just to make sure you don’t,” Dradon placed a nasty kiss on her lips, “change your mind.”
“I have no intentions of doing that baby.” Cassie ran her finger along his jawline.
Dradon grinned at her as he would a human he was about to drain of all their blood and dispose of their body.
“After you.” Brandon said gesturing ahead of himself.
Cassie gave him the look she’d only given to Julian but knew it would do the trick.
They took her to a shady part of town: hookers on the street, drug dealers on the corners, homeless people every two or three buildings, it was wretched. In one alley she spotted a vampire feasting on the remains of what once was a hooker. Her body was pale and looked emaciated since he had drained every ounce of blood from her. He looked up at Brandon, Dradon, and Cassie and snarled and continued with what he was doing. Brandon and Dradon grinned smug like, but with a bit a pride. Unfortunately for her, Cassie would be in that very predicament soon.
At the end of the street the entered a building. On the inside stood a watchmen who looked he just stepped out of a horror flick. He was six foot five and not an inch sooner and his entire body could fill the doorway. He had black hair and wore all black and his face was pretty scarred up. He left eye was swollen shut, permanently it looked to Cassie, and when he spoke to Brandon and Dradon, his voice was scratchy, deep, and pretty damn scary.
“Any problems?” Brandon asked walking by him.
“No. Not much they can do chained up, but I’ve got two of ours in with them just in case. You know how tricky some vampires can be.” He sneered.
Brandon and Dradon chuckled. It sent chills ups Cassie’s spine.
“Is this the hunter?” He asked glaring down at Cassie.
“It is.” Brandon answered taking her arm and moving her in front of him. “I’m afraid though, she won’t be a vampire hunter past this evening.” He looked to her as he continued. “Once we’ve finished with her, she won’t be much of anything.”
Cassie shuddered, she couldn’t prevent it.
The corners of the watchmen’s mouth tipped up in approval. He went back to his position as Brandon and Dradon walked Cassie down the dark hallway.
When they entered the room it was everything she could do to not run over to both of them and comfort them. It’s not what either of them would want and it wasn’t going to help the situation.
They had them in the center of the room with theirs arms stretched out to the sides and chained to metal posts embedded in the floor. Their legs were also chained to the same thing and they were shirtless and their bodies were reddened from the torture placed upon them. Julian of course was chained by pure silver. It was one of the very few things besides the sun that truly took the “life” out of a vampire. His head was down and instantly came up when Cassie entered the room. He looked to her as a warrior looks to the one he’s supposed to protect and then shot a look to Brandon.
“Why is she here?”
Brandon laughed coldly and wrapped his arm around Cassie’s waist. He pulled her back against him and ran his tongue across her ear. “We have plans for her Julian.”
Dradon chimed in. “Special plans.” He stepped in front of her and grabbed her chin and kissed her fiercely. He purposely bit her lip drawing blood and he licked it off as he turned to face Lyle and Julian. “Very special plans.” He taunted them both by licking Cassie’s blood from his lips in front of them.
“Keep your fucking hands off of her.” Lyle said struggling for breath. He was in worse shape than Julian simply because he was human and his body didn’t heal as quickly.
“Not much you can do about it.” Dradon said glaring at them both.
The other two vamps in the room laughed from the taunting. They hated humans and any vamp that didn’t act like one. They couldn’t wait for the feast to begin.
Brandon walked over and looked at Lyle, he noticed the bite marks on both sides of his neck and his left arm. He grinned and then looked to the other two vamps.
“Is there a reason there are so many bite marks on this one?” Brandon asked already knowing the answer.
The younger of the two vamps spoke. He was what would be considered a teenager if he were human. “He pissed me off. Talked about what he would do to me when he escaped and how his sister would do worse when she got here. I wanted to drain him, but Vick heard his pussy screams and told me to lay off for now.”
Vick, that must be the tree out front Cassie thought to herself.
“Good for Vick. We’ve so much we want him to see before we end him, his sister and their vamp of a friend.” Brandon dug two fingers into one of the bite marks knowing how painful it would be. He enjoyed watching Lyle wince.
Cassie figured she better put her plan into action before things got too far out of hand.
“Brandon.” She said in the sultriest voice she could bring herself to do. Forgive me Julian. “I’m pretty hot right now after what you and Dradon did to me at the river.” She ran her fingers through her hair and threw her head back in what she wanted to look like desire.
Julian’s eyes instantly went red and his fangs came out. It wasn’t Cassie he was angry with as he read her every thought the moment she entered the room. She’d let him know what she was doing and how much she loved him and to forgive anything she does from this point on.
Brandon walked over to her and without a word say ripped her shirt open right down the middle. He dropped to his knees and took one of her breasts roughly into his mouth. She grabbed his head and threw hers back as she moaned. God Logan, god Alyssa, please hurry. Dradon came up next to her and fisted his hand in her hair. He kept her head pulled back and looked at Julian as he let his fangs come out. He grinned a purely evil grin and stuck his fangs into Cassie’s neck. Not too much as he didn’t want her to be one of them nor did he want to end her life just yet, not til he had his chance with her. Dradon pulled back as the blood dripped from her neck.
“What’s she taste like Julian?” Dradon licked her blood. “Ever had an ounce of her blood?” He licked her neck repulsively and looked back to Julian. He was fighting against the chains causing his wrists to bleed. “You haven’t have you?” Dradon licked again. Brandon was still engrossed in sucking and grasping at her breasts. “It’s too bad you’ll never find out for yourself.” He went to bite her again.
Cassie’s eyes rolled back in her head and she shrilled from the pain. She knew it wouldn’t be like this with Julian, she prayed it wouldn’t at least. But with Julian, he’d do everything in his power to comfort her when it was over. Play the game Cassie. Keep them on you til they get here. God help me.
“Mmm, yessss.” She reached back to wrap her arm around Dradon’s head and kept her other hand on Brandon’s shoulder. “There’s no need to end my existence completely is it baby?” She slid her body up and down Dradon’s. “You can make me like you and take me away from this place. Take me and show me how the ‘real’ vampires live…so to speak.”
Dradon pulled back and looked at her. “You mean that?”
“Yes.” She said without a moment’s hesitation.
Brandon stopped his actions to look at her too. “You’d drop him for us?”
“In a heartbeat.” She pulled his head back to her breast.
“Cassie.” Lyle said with what little strength he had left. He couldn’t read her mind so had no idea what she was doing. “What’s gotten in to you?”
She looked to him slowly and remembered something they’d agreed on when they first took on their mission. If anything ever went wrong, they would have a code word or phrase that would alert the other no matter what was happening, they had it under control.
“My dear sweet, stupid brother.” She tried an indignant laugh and pulled it off rather well. “Táimid ar cheann.”
We are one. It only took a few seconds, but it clicked for Lyle. That was the code phrase. And rather any vampire in that room was of Irish decent, it didn't matter. The phrase would mean absolute nothing to them.
Seeing that Lyle got it, Cassie continued on. Dradon and Brandon had switched places now and were more than enjoying themselves as they had their way with her. “I’m through hunting vamps Lyle. Can’t do that anymore considering I just want to be like them. And I don’t mean like Julian or Logan either. I mean like Brandon and Dradon’s clan. Bloodseekers, hunters, stalkers.” Dradon had her pants down past her hips now. Oh dear god, please hurry already.
“You won’t survive a month.” Lyle coughed and continued. “I’ll find you and kill you myself. At that time, my sister will already be dead.”
“You can try, but it won’t be easy knowing what I know about vampire hunters.” She lowered her eyes at him and smirked.
Julian was still struggling to free himself. He was bleeding profusely now.
Oh please stop baby. Stop before you hurt yourself beyond repair.
Through his anger and his rage he caught the thought and caught her eyes with his. She knew instantly what he was thinking.
“Let’s see how much you enjoy being fucked by a vampire.” Brandon said undoing his pants. “A real vampire.” He said tossing the insult at Julian and never looking at him. Before he could satisfy himself the door came crashing down and Logan along with two from his clan, Pierce and two from his order, and Alyssa came rushing in.
The two vamps leaped from the corner and positioned themselves in front of Lyle and Julian. Their fangs were out, they were in a fighting stance and they were snarling prepared for battle. Dradon hissed as he took his position. Brandon threw Cassie aside and crouched down on the floor like a tiger ready to leap at its prey.
Alyssa ran over to help Cassie and she snarled at Brandon as she hurried by. It was an amazing thing to see her in battle. It’d only happen one other time before and Logan told her after it was over, he was very glad that she was on his side. There’s something different about female vamps in battle. They don’t hold back like the female humans do, they are purely ruthless when it comes to protecting their own.
“Are you alright?” She asked Cassie helping her sit up.
“Yes.” She nodded her head quickly. “Yes I am.” She looked to Julian. “We have to get him out of those chains, they’re literally killing him.”
“That’ll have to wait for now.” Alyssa stood up prepared to do battle.
“But…”
“Cassie, he’ll be fine. He’s been in worse positions than this, trust me.” Alyssa leaped at the vampire that had attached itself to Logan’s back. She leaped on his back and without a moment’s hesitation, broke his neck.”
Pierce had Dradon backed into a corner and with one smooth move, cut his head cleanly off. He’d been battling vampires for about 15 years, so he knew how to do it. No one in his order could sever a head of a vamp as easily and as quickly as he could.
Seeing that Logan, Pierce, and Alyssa had everything under control in this room, the other 4 took off to handle the other vamps throughout the building. Alyssa had taken care of Vick herself. She’d used Julian’s serum to do that. Just when Vick thought himself lucky and about to get in to Alyssa’s pants, she injected the syringe into his neck and watched him disintegrate into nothing.
Cassie had gone over to Julian to comfort him. She was purely capable of fighting herself, but had no desire to.
“Are you okay baby?” She asked fighting back the tears.
“I’m fine.” He leaned forward to kiss her. “I’ll be fine as soon as you get me out of these damn silver chains.” He kissed her desperately again. He looked to see that Logan was about break Brandon’s neck. He wanted that pleasure. “Logan!”
He turned to look at him as Pierce kept Brandon pinned against him.
“Let me have the pleasure.” He glared at Brandon. “Please.”
“As you wish my friend.” He turned to Alyssa who had just dumped the teen vamp into a corner. “Alyssa, the key.”
She reached into her cleavage to pull it out. “Got this from dear ole Vick before he went to that big ole Vampire haven in the sky.” She threw the key to Logan who walked over to Julian with it. He started to undo them and Cassie stopped him.
“Please.” She placed her hand on his. “Let me.”
He smiled at her softly and handed her the key.
Brandon was still struggling against Pierce and he as murmuring in his clan’s native tongue.
Cassie undid his chains quickly and then hurried to do her brother’s. When she was done, Julian pulled her against him and kissed her passionately.
“I don’t ever want you to put yourself in this position again.” He said fiercely as he looked deep into her eyes. “Logan or Alyssa may not always be there to come to the rescue, or for that matter neither will Pierce.” He kissed her short and hard. He then looked to Brandon and walked slowly towards him as he rubbed his wrists. The pain was minimal now. When he thought about what he would do to Brandon for touching Cassie the way he did, the pain was nearly non-existent.
He stood directly in front of him as he continued murmuring savagely in his tongue. “You don’t deserve a quick termination.” Julian said quietly.
Without a word spoken, Alyssa reached into the pouch on her side and took out another syringe and placed it in the hand Julian held out.
As Julian took off the cap and tapped the syringe to rid it of air bubbles, Brandon’s murmuring became quicker and louder.
Julian only smirked at him as he injected the needle into his neck. As Brandon’s body started to convulse, Pierce let him go so he could fall to the floor. Julian watched more than satisfied as Brandon’s body started to disappear bit by bit.
The other four returned to the room just as the last bit of Brandon’s body disintegrated.
“Are we clear?” Pierce asked sheathing his sword.
“We’re clear.” One of his answered.
“You gonna make it Bennett?” He asked Lyle as he looked him over. Cassie had her arm wrapped tightly around his waist.
“Yea.” He took a deep breath. “I’m going to be just fine as soon as we get the hell out of here.”
“Agreed.” Logan said stepping to the door.
“And Cassie.” Lyle continued as he looked to her.
“Yes?”
“Don’t ever do that again.” He gently swiped at the back of her head.
She chuckled softly as she helped him out of the room.
Two weeks later:
“You truly understand?” She asked wrapping her arms around Lyle.
“I truly understand.” He answered hugging her tightly. “I don’t agree, but I understand.”
“I have to Lyle. I love him and I can’t live my life knowing one day I’ll die and he won’t. I need him Lyle.” She buried her face in his chest to fight the tears.
“I said I understand Cassandra. I don’t have to like it to understand.” He kissed the top of her head. “You’ll come to me or Pierce if you need anything, have any trouble?”
“I will.” She nodded her head as she looked up at him.
“And you’ll come back to check on me when I’m old and gray and riding around in a wheelchair chasing vamps.” He tried to lighten the mood before he broke down.
“You may get old, but you’re too vain to let yourself go gray. And a wheelchair…please.” She poked at his chest playfully. They stared at each other for the next few seconds in complete silence.
“I love you Lyle.” It was a whisper as she said it. “I always will.”
“I love you too Cassandra.” He leaned down to kiss her on the lips. “No matter what you become, I’ll always love you.”
She placed her hand gently on his lips and turned to hurry off as the tears fell from her eyes.
It was a few days later when Cassandra was turned. Julian told her it would be one of the most painful experiences she’d ever experience, but he’d be right there to help her through it. After taking some of her blood, enough to turn her, he offered his as the sealer. His blood would heal her and of course help with the transformation. She’d slept for about six hours after it. Julian wasn’t worried of course. Being the scientist he was, he knew that everyone’s body reacted differently to certain situations. Alyssa was ready to run a marathon after her transformation. He’d remember Logan sharing the story with him. She was insatiable for hours after it happened and it was Logan who had to ‘step’ away before he passed out like a little girl. Cassandra on the other hand needed recovery time, but when she awoke Julian thanked whatever gods there were. She was beyond insatiable and Julian hoped she never changed.
He and Logan were sitting by the river sharing a couple of beers. It’d been a year since Cassandra’s transformation and everything seemed to be going smoothly. She wasn’t able to go out in the daylight yet as Julian hadn’t quite got the serum right for her, but he was getting there. Her desire for human blood was taken care of by the serum he created that killed the thirst.
“It’ll probably be time for us to move on shortly.” Logan stated taking sip of his beer. “There’s a few humans who are getting a bit too comfortable around me. Asking why I never age and how after being together for 10 years Alyssa and I look like we’re getting younger?”
“Yea, I gotcha.” Julian nodded as he swung his beer between two fingers. “I cut myself the other day cutting some lemons and not even thinking about it, I sucked the blood, wiped my hand and continued on. One of the waitresses took my hand to baby it and could barely see the cut.”
“What’d you tell her?”
“The truth. That I heal fast.” Julian chuckled. “She just slapped my arm and told me how silly I was.” Julian took a long sip of beer. As he glanced over to his right it’s no wonder he didn’t drop his beer.
Alyssa and Cassandra were walking towards them and they were absolutely the two most beautiful females he’d seen in his 360+ years of being. Vampire or not, they were breath taking.
“Damn.” He said softly.
“What?” Logan asked turning to see what he was looking it. His smile bloomed instantly when he saw them. “That’s a delicious sight isn’t it?”
“Oh yea.” Julian said shoving the beer bottle into the sand and standing.
They were both wearing nothing but a simple sundress with spaghetti straps that came to just above their knees. Alyssa’s was red, and Cassandra’s was blue. They were barefoot and they walked, no they sauntered to their mates proudly. The wind was blowing their hair and they looked like a scene right out of romance novel. It was as though they were in slow motion and Logan and Julian stood to enjoy every second of it.
As they approached, Cassandra was walking towards Julian and Alyssa towards Logan. Right as they approached, they switched places. They each took the opposite’s face into their hands and placed a long, sultry kiss to their lips. As they pulled back they ran a finger across their lips and then moved to their own.
Cassandra looked deep into Julian’s eyes. His had darkened when Alyssa kissed him. Not for desire for her because of the kiss, but in the way it had been done. Both she and Cassandra had a naughty way about them and both Logan and Julian hoped it never changed.
Logan and Alyssa were already into their steamy kiss.
“You are truly wicked.” Julian said softly as he placed a gentle kiss to her lips. “If I didn’t know you were a vampire, I’d call you a witch instead.”
Cassandra laughed softly. She ran her finger down his cheek and her eyes were catlike and she was rubbing against him sinuously. “Want me to change?”
“Not in the next millennium.” He leaned down to kiss her. He fisted his hands in her hair and drew her head back slowly. His fangs were out and she knew what was next. Now that she was one of them, he could feast on her blood as much as he wanted with no harm to her. Her fangs came out and her eyes darkened and she buried her fangs into his chest as he still suckled her neck erotically. The noises they drew from each other excited them even more. After a few minutes they pulled away from each.
“I’ll never get enough of that.” He said catching the rest of her blood on his fingertip and placing it to her lips.
“Neither will I.” She did the same to him.
Julian chuckled as he realized that Logan and Alyssa had ‘disappeared’. He did his teleportation thing as he always did when they were someplace he didn’t want to be when he wanted her. “Looks like we’re alone.”
Cassandra looked around. “Looks like it.” She reached for the button on his pants. “What do you intend to do about it?”
He grabbed her hands with one of his and cuffed them behind her. Like Alyssa, Cassandra had inherited one of Julian’s gifts…mind reading. “Oh my. Is that legal?” She asked looking to him seductively.“Want to find out?” He asked bringing her down to the sand.
She didn’t have a chance to answer.
