"All Quiet On The Eastern Front"
A decade ago like rabbits in hutches,
Now limping slowly and walking on crutches.
Consumation of marriage, a ritual; no desire,
As the coals turn to ashes, nothing feeding the fire.
Searching the wasteland for hope and for glory,
Beat myself sensless, all bloody and gory.
Methodical madness and less frequent each time,
Made to feel guilty yet comitting no crime.
Fantasize relentless of young and of old,
Yet wanting the one more who I used to hold.
No shortage of love this beautiful being,
Yet unseen forces draw barriers between.
Love in itself is more than physical,
Call me old - call me cynical.
I know for myself the ozones depleting,
Icebergs are melting by the suns overheating.
Who would have thought we would end up this way?
What should I do? What should I say?
