Acid
Dim lights,
dancing to a pumped up bass beat.
Kids swapping detention cards signed by different teachers,
‘Have you got a Morrison?'
Necking in corners,
far from the dance floor mayhem,
ecstatic children play new games with new toys.
Alice in Wonderland popping pills,
this one makes you larger,
this one gets you high.
Outside,
the sirens call faintly in the night
and all our little Jeckles' become Mr Hyde in one,
everything becomes a tool of destruction.
Another hospitalised pig,
another drug crazed youth,
another anxious parent,
another wealthy pusher,
another injustice,
another ‘acid house party'.
