Ghostly Reminders
Open your mind at any page
you may find the answer your looking for,
spraying anti-perspirant on your sweated dialogue.
Mummy's little soldier boy never went to sea,
love tail-spinned to the bottom of the rainbow,
the gold was only silver-plated
tainted.
The briefcase of your mind
locks up your bowler-hatted love
within a rain drenched heart
under protected by the leaky umbrella
that walks inside the pin-stripe
to his nine to dive,
his Friday night dead or alive.
Insecurity walks him to his company car
enclosed beneath the stiff-upper drink
that soaks his moustached lip
as he licks her memory away
for another working day,
seven night come what may,
crying for the comedian
who hit near the mark.
It was his dying sparkler
running water dampened
in spirits.
Ghostly reminders remaining back after school
to give teacher's pet her apple,
the fruits of her delight
to loosen to the point of uptight,
your feet kick empty space crammed
with feelings.
