PYTOR
(ONE)
"Sire, you have a visitor." The butler peeked through the door.
"Who?"
"He announced himself as Maximilein Duke of Edinburgh."
"Send him in right away." I got up from behind my desk and walked over to the bar. As the butler hurried away I poured two glasses of whiskey. Within seconds Maximilein entered the room and was standing next to me. We kissed cheeks and he took a glass of whiskey for himself.
"How are you my dear friend?" I asked.
"Pyotr, there's a rumor."
"What sort of rumor? Come sit." We walked to the couches but he didn't sit, he was pacing.
"There's a girl...Princess of England. She's only five and ten and rarely seen. But when seen she oft comes up in later conversations. Last night I was having dinner with Sir Atteberry and his wife. She was talking to other ladies and I overheard them speak of the Princess Alexandria. I came right away."
"Yes yes, get on with it."
"She has violet eyes." He stopped and looked at me. We both took drinks of our whiskey and emptied the glasses.
"Five and ten and only now I am hearing of this?!" I stood up and yelled.
"She's met less people in her life than anyone I have ever heard of."
"Why?"
"Apparently she is very pale and thin. Some say sickly. Her parents never let her socialize or off of their castle grounds."
"Interesting."
"There is more...She just married."
"Married?! How in bloody hell does this happen!"
"She was invited to a ball at the King of Scotlands' castle. He asked for her hand and her parents agreed."
"Who is he?"
"Carlisle Sheehy. He's like us."
"Do I know him?"
"Very well." He walked over and poured us another drink. "Erik turned him. Exactly two hundred thirty nine years ago..."
"The family with the babe."
"Yes."
I was so angry I couldn't speak. The last time I met a lady with violet eyes things ended terribly. I had to meet her. I sent Maximilein to find out if they were home or on a trip before I showed up anywhere. I called Aldrich to the study as well as Erik and Sonya who had been staying with us.
"There's been some interesting news brought to my attention." I told them about the girl and Aldrich was as surprised as I was that she had lived long enough to get married without our knowing. We talked all day about how we would handle the situation. After nightfall Maximilein finally showed up. We took dinner in the dining room as he informed of her whereabouts.
"They are staying in the Bran Castle." Maximilein said.
"Interesting. With Vlad?"
"It appears so."
"I wonder why he hasn't gotten in touch with me." I laughed.
Vlad Dracul and I never got along. He was like me in a sense, short tempered and terrifying. His people were afraid him and often took shelter when he was in the streets. All in all I didn't think he was that bad, just a little ugly.
"Do you think I should take a carriage or just show up?"
"They haven't arrived yet. Might take your time. Show up when they are settled in."
"Do you think she's aware?" I asked.
"There is no telling. If she is or if she isn't I'm positive she is terrified."
"Just wait until she meets me." I smiled.
I packed a few nesscary items for the trip. Our countries weren't very far apart and my trip would only take a few days. I had friends along for company and that always made for a good time no matter the circumstances.
Early the next morning we took off. The four of us, Maximilein went on a trip to inform the others. We called them our brothers though we weren't related through blood. When it became night we stopped in a particularly small village. We didn't need to sleep or stop for food. But, we did need to stop for a drink.
I saw a fair lady walking up towards the door of a house. Her own I assumed. "Excuse me, m'lady." I called towards her.
She stopped and slowly turned around. She wasn't rich I could tell by the wool clothes she wore. She was also carrying wood logs in her hand. She was a pretty girl under the dirt and sweat that matted her face. "Yes?" She said in barely a whisper.
"I am traveling from afar, and just happened I am lost. Could you please tell me where I might find lodging for the night?" I walked towards her a little more. She backed up towards her door the closer I got.
"I-I am sorry kind sir, we have no inns here."
"Well then, might be it possible that i stay under your warm roof for one night? I will pay gold for your kind service."
Her eyes got wide as I stood right in front of her and smiled. When I smiled she screamed and dropped the wood. I lunged towards her neck and for a while she struggled as I sucked her blood. Eventually though, she stopped and I let her fall to the ground.
I wiped my mouth off with a sleeve and looked around to make sure nobody else saw. Then I picked her body up and quickly went to the forest in the back of the house. I left her body for the dogs. Then I went back to the house and put the wood nice and neat in front of the door. After I finished I met the others at the carriage and we took off again. It went that way for a few nights until we arrived.
This chapter is a lot shorter than the first and I plan on editing it to make it slightly longer.
Please feel free to send me feed back on the first two chapters and be completely honest.
I write often but this is the first time I am comfortable enough to share my stories.
I'll be posting the next chapters in a few days. Thank you!
