- Intro: Losing the one you love is never easy to defeat.Through it all you realize that person wants nothing, but for you to live happily. One diary, a pen, and her thoughts is all it takes to bring Kyra back to life.
The past week has been incredible since my sister came home. Charlotte and I have bonded quite well also. She is a hilarious person. Now I can see why Kirsten fell for her.
My dad is supposed to be flying in from London sometime next week. Since Kirsten was here, he has decided to come see his two daughters, and have that special father daughter bonding time. He rarely comes to visit me since him and my mom don't get along that well.
When my mom and him divorced, he moved to the UK. He offered for me to come and live with him, but I couldn't leave my friends. I'm just ecstatic that he's coming.
My bedroom door opened to reveal Charlotte.
"You ready to go?" She asked.
"Yep let me get my purse and I'll be right down."
Charlotte and I are spending this wonderful Saturday together to get to know each other better. Our entire day is going to consist of going to the mall, eating at my favorite restaurant, and going to the boardwalk for some rides and to walk around. I made my way downstairs, so I wouldn't keep her waiting.
"I'm ready!" I hollered while coming down the stairs.
"Alright let's go." She said behind me catching me off guard. She must have been in my sister's room.
We hopped into her car and headed towards the mall. My phone vibrated and it was a text from Cassie.
Cassie: (310) 555-8657
Call me ASAP!
What could she possibly want that was so important? I quickly dialed her number. Usually when she sends me a text involving the word ASAP, it's extremely important. After two rings, she answered.
"Where are you?" She frantically asked not using a proper greeting.
"Well hello to you too."
"I don't have time for your shenanigans. Just answer my question." She replied sounding irritated.
"I'm on my way to the mall. Why?"
There was silence on her end of the line.
"Hello. Are you there?"
"Yeah. Do you think you could come by the school quickly?"
"Sure. Are you there?"
"I'm standing outside the school."
"Are you going to tell me what's going on?"
"Um...you'll find out when you get here."
"Alright I'll be there in 10 minutes."
She didn't say goodbye or anything.
"Could you go by my school quickly? My friend needs me."
"Yeah sure."
We lapped back into a silence. My mind continuously wondered to what Cassie could possibly want. I suddenly assumed the worst, which I know I shouldn't have, but that's they she is making it seem. The short ride seemed to go on forever. What could be going on at the school that she would want me there? Her voice did seem a little off though, but it always sounds like that when she panics. I saw the school coming in sight along with many cars in the parking lot. I became more curious.
"What's with all the cars being here on a weekend," I mumbled to myself.
I got of the car and rushed over to Cassie who was standing at the school entrance. I heard footsteps behind me and knew it was Charlotte. Cassie's face was filled with anxiousness and worry.
"What's going on Cassie? I basically put my day on hold to come here and what is with the cars?"
"Just follow me." She said while walking off toward the field.
Her strides were quick. I practically had to jog to keep up with her. I was still curious as to why all the cars were here. The field came into sight and the bleachers as well which were filled with a bunch of people. Most of whom I realized were my classmates and some people from around town. As soon as we stepped onto the field all eyes were on us. It was definitely unsettling.
"Cassie what's going on?" I whispered in her ear.
"Look in the middle of field."
My eyes wondered to the middle of the field and my breath caught. There stood Niklaus in all his glory with what looked like a ring box looking at me longingly. He was wearing a black tuxedo with a bouquet of blood red poppies that had white bleeding hearts attached in hand. He looked handsome. His hair was slicked back making him look suave and nearly professional. Cassie began pushing me towards him and I walked the rest of the distance. When I was close, he got down on one knee and opened the ring box revealing a beautiful square cut 14-karat diamond ring. Tears threatened to fall from my eyes. A Thousand Year by Christina Perri began softly playing in the background.
When he began to speak, his voice projected around the field. I didn't notice the headset he was wearing.
"Kyra I know I've been an ass to you, but I want you to know that you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. What was between Jacqueline and me was purely physical and nothing more. I was being an impatient pervert when you told me you weren't ready," when he said that I blushed like a mad woman, "I probably shouldn't have said that, but I want you to get what I'm saying. I love you Kyra more than anything in the world. With you I feel I can do anything in this world that I believe is possible. I feel like half my soul was ripped from me when you broke up with me and I won't lie that I would have done the same if I were in the same position. I will love you for a thousand years and definitely more than that because without you I know for a fact that my life would be nothing. You are my existence. Everyday I'm not with you I die a little more inside. The love I have for you is simply too much for me to contain and express in words. You're that light in the darkness that keeps me going because I know in every tunnel there is an end. I give you this ring to symbolize my love and commitment I have for you, so Kyra will you have me as your newly improved and faithful boyfriend again?"
My mouth moved, but no words came out. I felt like a fish out of water. Tears began spilling over from my eyes and soaking my face. I could definitely tell he was sincere with what he was saying and I miss him so much. My conscience was telling me to listen to my heart, but my better judgment was saying to listen to my head. I loved him as well and losing him was not something I plan to do again. This drought in my heart needed to end and the desert needed to flower again. My heart has made the decision for me.
"Yes." I said while vigorously nodding my head.
He jumped from kneeling and grabbed me around the waist spinning me around. He placed a passionate kiss on my lips catching me off guard. The life could visibly been seen coming back into his eyes. At that moment, I knew I made the right choice. He put me back onto my feet and placed the ring on my ring finger. A grin I couldn't control the smile that broke out on my face.
"You bastard." I said to him all the while grinning like the Cheshire cat.
"I'm your bastard."
It was then that I realized people were still in the bleachers and applauding. I put my head down in embarrassment. I looked up and my eyes connected with Cassie's. She gave me her famous innocent smile while I was planning her death. I wish she had warned me. We walked off the field and to a secluded area of the school. We both stood there staring into each other's eyes.
"How long did it take you to plan this?"
He thought for a little. "Since the day you broke it off I've been thinking of ways to get you back. This is the best I could come up with."
"It was nice. You didn't have to get me the ring though. It's a bit much and I know you paid a fortune for this." I dazedly looked at the ring.
"Nothing is ever too much for you. I told you that you mean everything to me and whatever you want I can get you."
"You sort of messed up my day you know?"
"Oh did I?"
"Yes sir. I was supposed to be spending the day with Charlotte. I'm still going to do that actually, but that means I need get going now."
"Don't go please and who's Charlotte?"
"Charlotte's my sister's girlfriend and I must leave now, okay?"
"Well promise me we'll spend time together tomorrow. You could come over to my place or we could go to yours."
"I like your house better. Just so you know you're not forgiven that easily. You have a lot of kissing up to do." I said breaking apart from his warming touch. I admit I felt empty not being in his arms.
"I figured that much. Bye baby. I love you." he said so lovingly.
"I love you too."
I walked away from Niklaus feeling giddy that I could barely contain myself. Charlotte didn't question anything that happened as we made our way back to the car. I was thankful because I didn't want to explain all that happened. The rest of my day was filled with laughs and happiness.
