- Intro: part 6 of the story.
Hye guys, I had a pleasure writing this story. Don’t worry , it’s not over yet. Now I’m going to write as a third person so you guys have an insight on how both the characters are feeling.
If Adam had any doubts about Vanessa going to bed with him, he didn’t show it. He was so controlled that she felt like she was the one insane with heat wanting to devour him and die in his arms.
Adam lowered Vanessa to the bed. She sat down and looked at him, watching him in fascination. He smiled. She was so innocent and yet she evoked such indecent thoughts into his mind. He had to hold himself back, his feelings too strong and too overwhelming that he knew she wasn’t ready for. He never felt this way. It was always easy with women. He knew how to handle them but heck, he had no idea to handle this beautiful young woman infront of him. He wanted to give her limitless pleasure. Even though, she was only 20 years old, she didn’t have the soul of one. She didn’t look like the type to give in easily, to not care about petty things. She looked like a person who had to strive, who enjoyed life less because she thought she didn’t deserve to and that even though she pushes him away, Adam knew that she wanted him, wanted his presence but was too stubborn and afraid to put down her defences.
He looked at her face, reaching for the softness in her eyes and the heat he thought she felt. Vanessa wet her lips suddenly, drawing his attention there. God, she is so beautiful. I’m going to die before this is over. He bent down on one knee, intended to remove her shoes. He laughed silently , recalling how she walked earlier in these high heel shoes . He looked up at her, seeing the relief in her eyes.
“ I hate high heels. They are impossible to walk in and so uncomfortable,” she said with a smile.
“ Then why did you?”, he asked her while starting to rub her soles and wiggle her toes. He looked at her face intently waiting for the change in her expression. Vanessa closed her eyes, sighing in pleasure. He got up and gently eases her to lie on the bed.
“ Sally forced me to, she took away my fitflops.”
“ You look great in them but don’t ever wear them since it hurts so much”, he said .
Vanessa cast a surprise look at how he said that. She’d never had anyone order her around other than her mother and it felt odd. She frowned.
Adam noticed. “ I mean don’t trouble and hurt yourself sweetheart. I still think you’re hot without the heels”, he said with a sexy wink.
Vanessa pulled him by the collar suddenly unable to resist the heat between them. She kissed him full on his lips, running her palm across his chest and pulling him over her. He shocked her by kissing her harder, deeper as though he couldn’t get enough of her. She moaned into his lips and lifted her lips from his. His breath stirred her hair. His breath laboured just as much as hers were. She stared into his eyes, heavy with passion.
Out of nowhere, she heard her phone rang. She neglected the first few rings but then, muttered sorry to Adam and went searching from her phone. It was still ringing and it was from her mother. Vanessa have a cold feeling inside, looking at the ID, it was her mother and if she called this late must have meant that it was an emergency. She picked up her phone , listening to her little sisters panicked voice and feeling the whole world fading around her.
Adam came about the living room, feeling something bad has happen. He looked at Vanessa, how her face changed abruptly from smiling passionately at him a moment ago and now carrying a blank look with a frown etched between her eye brows. She paced about the room, running her fingers thru her hair while reassuring her sister, “ Don’t worry, she’ll be fine. I’ll be over there as soon as possible.” She put down the phone and rushes to her room and came out a minute later with an envelope in her hand. She looked at me, her face clean of expression. Adam wished she would confide with him what was troubling her so he could help.
“Can you please drive me somewhere? I’ll tell you the place and please don’t asked any questions now”, Vanessa asked Adam in a wavering voice. She felt lost, so shock and all her reservation of never asking for help in her life just went out the window. What matters now was going to the hospital.
Adam nodded and they went off.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
“ Thank you , “ Vanessa said going out of the door. Before Adam could say anything, she was running into the hospital rushing in with all the worry in her face that she didn’t manage to have before.
Adam found a car space and went in the hospital after her. With the bright lights and everyone rushing , he spotted her in the busy crowd talking to a doctor. The doctor, a man in his forties with thick glasses and a worn face, put his hand on her shoulder . Adam raced to her, walking briskly past all the commotion.
She turned. “ What are you doing here? “ . She had unshed tears in her eyes. He felt something looking at her lost and sad face. He put his arms around her, knowing that he couldn’t say anything to make things better for her, that the only way to help her was by being at her side.
Vanessa pressed her face into Adam’s chest. Her mother had a stroke. The doctor said, she wouldn’t live that long. Her heart was not strong enough. Vanessa , feeling so much sorrow , wanted to cry her heart out. She didn’t have anyone else. The only family she had was her siblings but the one that has always matter to her was her mother. Her mom was her bestfriend for all those times she cried, all those time she felt like giving up, for all those times people doubted her abilities but not her mom. She had so much faith in Vanessa that most of the time, Vanessa felt like she didn’t deserve it.
She cant die now, please no. Mommy, please, I still need you, I still need to see your beautiful sincere face, telling me I’m beautiful just the way I am, that I could always rely on you for anything, that you love me with all your heart and that you love spending time with me, Vanessa prayed in her heart.
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
Vanessa slept on Adam at the seat outside her mothers room after visiting her ,talking to her sister and calling the bakery to say she wouldn’t come in today. Even in her moment of despair and the most unfortunate event , she still thought about her business, Adam had thought to himself.
She said very few words to Adam, telling him that her mom was really sick and she wouldn’t live that long. After knowing Vanessa for the short period of time, he realised that she couldn’t confide easily , always guarded and careful with what she said. She spoke her mind when it came to general things in life but never about her feelings. She was always holding back. I ‘m going to change that.
He listened to her , watching that eventhough her eyes looked on the verge of tears and despair, they never came. She was trying very hard not to cry . He held her in his arms while they slept, she was so light and so fragile that he just couldn’t bare leaving her and he didn’t want to either.
She’d looked so tired and cold, paled with all that’s happen to her. Adam prayed for her, praying that whatever that was happening to her, god would help her and that He would help her mother.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
Adam woke up with an ache in his neck, sleeping at such a dreadful position.
But he realised the black haired girl in his arms, his damsel in distress face asleep, even with the eye backs and her pale-stricken face, she looked like an angel. His angel. He smiled looking at her sleeping form with a lot of tenderness in his eyes.
He laughed inside, feeling ridiculously possessive and so poetic to describe Vanessa as his angel and ‘his’ in the first place.
He smoothed her hair over, they felt like crushed silk under her fingertips and she entirely felt light and soft . He whispered into her ear, “ hey, wake up.”
She opened her eyes, waking herself up mentally and abruptly stood up. “ oh god, I need to see her”
Before she opened the door, Adam called after her. She turned and looked at him.
“ Do you want me to go in with you? “ he asked gently in his sleep roughen voice.
She shook her head. “ Thank you for everything that you’ve done, but I think you should go home. Shower , visit you dad .”
He realised that when she said that, she not only want him to go but also to spend some time with his family. To treasure whatever time that she obviously didn’t have with her mother. He didn’t feel like arguing with the feeling that she needed privacy .
She went in the room and left him there. He got up , stretch and started to walk. Vanessa’s sister, holding three cups of coffee stopped him. She was a pretty strawberry blonde teenager with a lean figure unlike her sister who was so womanly with luscious curves that she often hide with large shirts.
She gave him a cup and said, “Come back later. She says leave but never listen to her, she desperately wants to be strong on her own so she thinks she doesn’t need you”.
Adam smiled, looking at this teen, so wise beyond her age that she knew better.
She smiled in return, “ I see the way you look at her, like you never want to stop and make her yours. She needs that. Come back . “
Adam ruffled the top of her head, “ Thanks, kiddo.” He walked passed her but after a few steps, he called after her, “hey, whats your name?”
She smiled, “ Cassie. “
“ how old are you ?” he asked her, already liking her like a little sister .
“ 16, “ she said with a smile. She had her sister’s smile, soft and genuine. She’s going to turn the heads of men when she grows up.
“ My brother’s 18. I want you to meet him one day”, he said . Knowing the look on her face, he could tell she was just as kind as her sister except she looked like she’d give into love easily and bore a positive attitude wherever she went.
“ I would love that.”
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
He did come back later as he said he would to Cassie. He brought a basket of treats , full with fruits and tarts. Walking casually in a pair of jeans and a shirt, he opened the door with a soft knock coming to rest by bed where Vanessa’s mom, weary but cheerful in her forties smiled at him.
“ you must be Adam, “ she said to him gesturing for him to take the seat next to the bed.
“ Yes, I am Mrs. Vangrough,” he said as he put down the basket at the table.
“ Oh please call me Eryn. Vanessa spoke to me about you before. You are very handsome, “ she said casting an approving look at Adam.
Adam smiled sheepishly at her inspection and also to the fact that Vanessa talked about him to her mother. “ Thank you , you don’t look bad yourself. I’m sure you turn a lot of men in your days” he said truthfully. She had soft features, easily catching men’s eyes with those blue eyes and full lips. Even in her state of sickness, she had grace and beauty and she had the same loving and positive mind that he saw in Cassie. He wondered if Vanessa was an exception from this quality.
“ thank you. I see why both my daughters seem to like you. Well , of course Vanessa does more than Cassie. She’s just very distant to show it yet. You have to warm her up first, “ she said with a wink.
Adam thought of the way Vanessa kissed with so much passion that he ached trying to restrained himself and smiled. “ She’s very beautiful, “ he said unaware of the look in his eyes.
Eryn smiled. Thank you god, I can leave in peace knowing that Vanessa would have this man who would love her and care for her better than any man I know, better than her father.
They talked about everything in those 50 minutes, Adam found Eryn to be very charming and it reminded him of his mother. They talked about Adam’s mother too, how she died, how his father dealt with it and how his brother throw tantrums wanting his mother to come home . Eryn was a kind soul, she patted his hand and reassured him that everything happens for a reason and that we have to accept it how it is. Adam told her how he met Vanessa , how she barged in the room , how she tried to always push him away when things gets serious. Eryn explained that Vanessa was the way she was because she didn’t trust men. She told him how her husband use to ill-treat Eryn and that it use to frustrate Vanessa. She told him that Vanessa never knew how to be a child, that she was always working and studying trying to help the family. She told him how Vanessa never go out , never went to prom and never involved in partying or drinking. She was such a good child that Eryn had to plead her to go have some fun, be a kid but she refuse.
Eryn also describe how loving Vanessa was. She took care of Cassie like her own child and always takes good care of Eryn. They had a very close mother and daughter relationship.
Adam felt that as he knew more about her, the more he understood her and the more he wanted to be with her. To give her pleasure , haven , and love…… he stopped at that. Yes, he did love her without a doubt. The realisation came as a surprise because he never thought that after dating so many women, he finally found the one he wants for life, to make her his wife, to treasure her and take care of her.
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
At 1 pm , Vanessa walked in the room like a ghost, feeling eerie and haunted with thoughts of the future. She didn’t know what to do. She wanted the best for her mother and life and death wasn’t something she could help. She felt hopeless.
Vanessa tugged her shirt , letting it covered her butt. She heard her mothers laugh and another’s. It was heavy and smooth like…. Adam’s
As soon as both came to view, “ What are you doing here? “, furiously at him for invading privacy.
They both quieted and looked at her. Her mother was the first one to break the silence.” He kept me company while you were away. Don’t look like that Vanessa. He was very nice to me and we have a great time talking. “
Adam was smiling sensing that Vanessa was struggling to keep her composure and knew that she would obey her mother by the look she gave him. “ I’m sorry, ‘ she muttered under her breath .
Eryn grinned at me, “ I don’t think he can hear you honey.”
Adam looked at Vanessa, who suddenly pasted an overbright smile on her face. She looked like a little girl, furious that she had to apologize. “ I’m sorry sir for I had done you wrong by asking you what you were doing here with my mother when I told you to go home”, she said sarcastically.
Eryn’s mouth hang open and before she could protest and say anything Adam winked at her and took Vanessa’s wrist , taking her outside. She stood there infront of the door, frowning.
He pulled her to him with a kiss, “ Don’t be mad. I like your mother. She’s very refreshing and so unlike you. If she was younger and I wasn’t into her daughter I would have asked her out at first glance, “ he joked.
Vanessa smiled, forgetting why she was mad. She’s always trying to push him way. she hugged him feeling guilty. He stood there motionless at first but when he realised he put his arms around her, pressing the softness of her body to the hard contours of his. She sighed, “ Thank you.”
