I often wonder whether Pete Shelley (Buzzcocks) sang about a number of unrequited loves, or a number of songs about one. Mine was surely the latter.
The strangest thoughts arise in bed
They're juxtaposing in my head
And I dream I smell your hair
I feel and touch the clothes you wear
When I hold you on my own
You cling so tight when wer'e alone
Well, I'm alone in town today
Is there somewhere tha I could stay?
Call me up and
See me soon
Call me up and I'll be there for you
Fifth floor on the avenue
Call me up and I'll be there for...
An arrangement that seems fair
We do not question this affair
You showed me your photograph
Your family pictures made us laugh
And the stories that you tell
I just fell under your spell
Well, call me up and see me soon
Call me up and I'll be there for you
Fifth floor on the avenue
Call me up and I'll be there for you
And you can even, play with me too
Oh, open up and I'll be there for you
