Today was the day. It was finally here. Aiden was leaving me for Texas. I frowned as I sat on his lap at the exit where his plane was starting to get people inside. Derrick and Selena was with me, supporting me through this awful moment.
"Baby," Aiden said. I stood up and he stood in front of me. He picked me up, my legs wrapped around him as his family stood behind him, waiting for him. "I love you." I cried and hugged him tight. "You will always be my one and only. I'll be back for you, we'll get married, we'll have beautiful babies. I love you so much." He kissed my ear, hugging me tight.
"I love you so much Aiden," I said to him. He pulled my head back and we kissed hard and rough. Our heads tilted and he gave me his tongue. Then he backed up, pressing his forehead to me.
"I love you, I love you, I love you," he said with tears in his eyes. "Promise me you'll won't forget about me. I swear I'll be back for you." I nodded, hugging him tight.
"I promise I won't forget about you. I love you too. Please come back and don't forget about me," I said. He chuckled.
"I can never forget you," he said as he set me on the floor. "Derrick man, protect her for me, take care of her. I'll call you soon." I stepped away as Derrick and Aiden hugged tightly. Then came Selena. She cried as she hugged him. He kissed her forehead and said something that made her laugh. And again, he pulled me into his arms.
"You love me?" he asked as the flight attendant called their group. I nodded. "Say it. Tell me how much you love me."
"Count the stars and when you know how much stars there is in the sky, double the number, I love you more than that," I said to him. He smiled, pulled my head up and kissed me softly.
"I love you Zanayla, I'll call you baby, I'll call you every fucking day."
Those words were stuck in my head as I walked into my classroom a month later. I had a sandwich with me for breakfast so instead of taking out my binder, I ate the sandwich with an orange juice before writing down my notes. Aiden was always in my mind. We texted throughout the day and spoke on the phone at night. He said Texas sucked without me and that every night he has a dream about me. California sucked without him also.
Selena walked in with a frown on her face. I stared at her as she made her way beside me. "Sorry I'm late." I shrugged and finished off my sandwich. "You've been eating alot since Aiden left."
"Don't mention his name," I frowned. "It makes me even sadder." She frowned and took out her binder. Selena was the one I cried too every night when I needed someone to hold me. Aiden's absence killed me more than I thought it would.
"What did I miss?" Selena asked. I shook my head before writing down my notes.
"Nothing important," I said. "Spoke to Derrick?"
"Yeah, he's in school, we're going out after school," she said softly. I smiled and thought to myself. That's good because Selena broke up with her boyfriend about two months ago, personally, they weren't meant to be. But Derrick has been trying to give her the time of the day and she finally got the hint that Derrick wanted her. She should give him a try.
"Finally," I joked with her. She smiled and then we did our work for the day. "I just cannot wait to get home." She snorted.
"I just cannot wait till I go on a date with Derrick."
That night, I texted Selena throughout her whole date. I was a little uncomfortable because I had a kotex on though. I hate wearing it because it always felt uncomfortable for me. You would think I would be used to it already but I never am.
I decided to call Aiden. Hearing his voice made things so much better for me. Although I wish he was just here, next to me.
"Baby," he breathed out. I closed my eyes and turned to my side.
"I love you," I said. He chuckled.
"Zanayla, I love you too," he said. "How was your day?"
"It was fine I guess, yours?"
"I was thinking about you all day."
"Me too," I sighed. "Come back already."
"I wish I could, I'm about to run away," he chuckled. I smiled.
"Come, we'll run away together," I joked with him.
"I wish things were that easy," he sighed. "Does your stomach still hurt?"
"Yeah, it's been uneasy for a while now, if it's still like this by the end of the week, I'm going to the hospital." The pain was unbearable at nights, sometimes Aiden would call me and we'll speak all night, well, he would speak, trying to soothe the pain away with his voice. Which for some strange reason worked.
"Do that and call me," he said. "I'm a little worried now."
"I probably just had a weird stomach virus or something," I sighed.
"Maybe," he said. "School over here is a blow."
"How?"
"It sucks, their football team sucks ass. I'm the best player they fucking have," he complained. I laughed.
"Yes, your the best player in every team," I said to him.
"Damn right I am. I miss you so much Zanayla, there's not a minute I'm not missing you." Now I had tears in my eyes. I frowned. "I really think it was a big mistake making love to you that day at the cave."
"Why?"
"Becuase now I'm craving you so much more."
"Me too."
"You are?"
"Yes sir. Tell me you love me."
"I love you."
"How much?"
"Much more than my life. Tell me you love me."
"I love you."
"How much?"
"Much more than my life." We laughed together and then he started singing on the phone, which eventually soothed me into a deep sleep.
"I'm what?" I asked my doctor as she stared at her Ipad. She looked up at me and nodded.
"Your pregnant, your exactly four weeks, another four weeks and you'll be throwing up, then another two weeks, you'll be craving strange food," she confirmed it. I stared at my flat stomach, my eyes wide. My hands flew to my stomach and I touched it.
"I'm pregnant," I breathed out. I had tears in my eyes as I took out my phone, not really caring that my doctor was still in the room with me. I searched for Aiden's number and pressed the call button.
"Baby?" Aiden answered on the first ring. "Everything alright?"
"I'm pregnant," I breathed out. "I'm pregnant."
"What?" he asked. "Your pregnant, with a baby?"
"Yes, with a baby," I sniffled.
"My baby?" he asked, sounding like he's dazed and confused. Now that, I took as an insult.
"Are you doubting that this is your baby? Really? You must not know me at all," I said as I wiped a tear from my face.
"No, Zanayla, it's just, I'm shocked," he sighed.
"Well I'm also shocked, but I don't need your shit, so goodbye. It's over. Unbelievable how you think this wouldn't be your baby, you took my virginity a month ago. So bye Aiden, it was so nice knowing you, my baby and I will do just fine without his or her father in his or her life." I ended the call and wiped the rest of the tears as I sat up, holding my phone tightly in my other hand.
"Thanks for everything," I said to my doctor.
"You need to be back in a month," she said softly. I nodded before walking out the examination room and down the hallway, into the elevator and then out the building. I tried controlling my emotions as I got into Zack, my older brother's car. I pulled on my seatbelt and started the car.
Asshole! Fucking idiot!
My cell phone rang and I stopped at the red light, looking down at the caller I.D. Selena! I answered on the second ring, tears in my eyes again.
"Selena," I cried. She gasped.
"Zanayla, what happened? What's wrong?" she asked me quickly.
"I'm pregnant and Aiden doesn't think the baby is his, he's the only one I've ever had sex with and now he's doubting it," I cried into the phone as the red light turned green. I started the car, driving through the streets and into the highway. I cried hysterically, wiping my tears with the hand I used to hold my phone.
"Where are you? Are you driving?" Selena asked me. I cried out and honked the horn. "Your fucking driving aren't you Zanayla? Stop the car!"
"I hate Aiden so much Selena," I cried as I passed a red car in front of me. "I hate him so much and I never want to see him again. The baby and I will be perfectly fine alone."
"Zanayla, listen to me, stop the car, stop the car right now," Selena said softly. "Please."
"I hate him Selena, I hate him!" I cried. I honked the horn so many times, I couldn't hear myself anymore.
"Zanayla! STOP! THE! FUCKING! CAR!" Selena screamed into the phone. I stopped the car in between the highway. I must have caused traffic behind me because cars started honking and then slowly driving past me. "You stopped the car?"
"Yes," I cried. "I'm pregnant Selena."
"Where are you?" she asked me.
"On 114," I breathed out.
"Derrick and I are on our way, stay there," she said softly. "Stay right where your at!"
After ending the call with Selena, Aiden called me a couple of times. I answered the phone, sniffling.
"Are you fucking crazy?" Aiden shouted at me. "You could have had an accident!"
"Selena told you?" I cried into the phone. I couldn't even breathe.
"Yeah, she did," he said. "Are you okay?"
"How do you think I feel after the father of my baby tells me he's doubting it is his child?" I asked him, gave him a second before ending the call. I threw my phone on the seat beside me and breathed in and out, trying to control my emotions. My phone started ringing a couple of times but I ignored it completely. Until then, about twenty minutes later, Selena and Derrick were beside me. Selena helped me into the backseat and then got into the driver's seat.
"Everything will be fine," she said softly. "Just relax." Derrick drove in back of us as Selena drove in Zack's car. I closed my eyes, my hand at my stomach, massaging it. It'll be perfectly fine, just me and my baby.
