Friday Over Tears
Waiting,
just waiting for the bad news to fall,
come crashing down around my shoulders
to empty my life,
destroy all meaning.
Thousands of songs come roaring into my head,
orchestration gone mad.
How can you really love me
and allow it to happen?
Trust,
that’s what I had for you,
like I trust the bank with my money.
Its too late now for reprisals,
you’ve spent everything I had.
I’m shaking
in trepidation of your words,
so how was he?
The tear ducts are open,
I force them back.
Its Friday night damn you,
I won’t lie down,
I won’t cry,
Friday’s are for fun and laughter
not machine guns and grenades.
No, I won’t cry,
its Friday
and I’ll put Friday over tears
anyday.
